Schelklingen
Schelklingen is a town in the district of Alb-Donau in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. It is situated 10 km north of Ehingen, and 20 km west of Ulm. Schelklingen and 82% of its territory form part of the Swabian Jura Biosphere Reserve. Geography The town centre of Schelklingen is located in the prehistoric valley of the Danube at the feet of the Swabian ''Alb'' or Swabian Jura (). The villages of Hausen ob Urspring, Justingen, and Ingstetten are located on the table land of the Swabian Alb. In the Schmiech valley are located the villages of Schmiechen, Hütten, Gundershofen, and Sondernach. Venus Of Hohle Fels
The Venus of Hohle Fels (also known as the Venus of Schelklingen; in German variously ') is an Upper Paleolithic Venus figurine made of mammoth ivory that was unearthed in 2008 in Hohle Fels, a cave near Schelklingen, Germany. It is dated to between 40,000 and 35,000 years ago, belonging to the early Aurignacian, at the very beginning of the Upper Paleolithic, which is associated with the earliest presence of ''Cro-Magnon'' in Paleolithic Europe, Europe. The figure is the oldest undisputed example of a depiction of a human being. In terms of figurative art only the lion-headed, zoomorphic Löwenmensch figurine is older. Sirgenstein Castle
Sirgenstein Castle (german: Burgrest Sirgenstein) is a ruined castle on rock, over twenty metres high, with a cave inhabited in the Stone Age, the ''Sirgenstein'', between the town of Blaubeuren and hamlet of Schelklingen in Alb-Donau-Kreis in Baden-Württemberg. The rock castle was probably built in the 13th century. Today its visible remains include castle walls, rusticated ashlar blocks and a neck ditch. Ach (Blau)
The Ach, also called Aach, is a river located in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It flows into the Blau in Blaubeuren. Geography Source The river Ach has its source west of Schelklingen in the Achursprung (535 m above sea level), a karst spring at the Dreikönigsmühle and about 500 m south of the monastery Urspring. It is a circular, bluish shimmering spring pot with an average flow of 440 litres per second (min. 110 L/s, max. 1,200 L/s). Course After only about 100 m of river, the longer and more water-rich Urspring, which has its source near the monastery Urspring, flows into the river on the left side. Ehingen (Donau) (; Swabian: ''Eegne'') is a town in the Alb-Donau district in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, situated on the left bank of the Danube, approx. southwest of Ulm and southeast of Stuttgart. Hohle Fels
The ''Hohle Fels'' () (also ''Hohlefels'', ''Hohler Fels'', German for "hollow rock") is a cave in the Swabian Jura of Germany that has yielded a number of important archaeological finds dating from the Upper Paleolithic. Artifacts found in the cave represent some of the earliest examples of prehistoric art and musical instruments ever discovered. The cave is just outside the town of Schelklingen in the state of Baden-Württemberg, near Ulm. Because of the outstanding archeological finds and their cultural significance, in 2017 the site became part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Caves and Ice Age Art in the Swabian Jura. Münsingen ( Swabian: ''Mensenga'') is a town in the district of Reutlingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated 23 km southeast of Reutlingen, and 37 km west of Ulm. The Swabian Jura (german: Schwäbische Alb , more rarely ), sometimes also named Swabian Alps in English, is a mountain range in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, extending from southwest to northeast and in width.
