The Diary (Scarface Album)
''The Diary'' is the third studio album by American rapper Scarface. The album was released on October 18, 1994, by Rap-A-Lot and Noo Trybe. This album is one of the few to receive a perfect rating from both '' The Source'' and '' XXL''. The album debuted at No. 2 on the ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart, and was certified Platinum by the RIAA on December 5, 1994. Two singles were released from the album, " Hand of the Dead Body", which featured Ice Cube and Devin the Dude, peaked at 74 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart, while " I Seen a Man Die" peaked at 37 on the chart, becoming his first top 40 hit. Due to business reasons and for more accessibility, both track titles were changed to "People Don't Believe" and "Never Seen a Man Cry" in their single version. MNRK Music Group (pronounced "monarch"), formerly known as Koch Records and Entertainment One (eOne) Music/Records, is an American independent record label and music management company based in New York City. It was formed in 1987 as a music division of Koch Entertainment, which was acquired by and absorbed into Entertainment One (or eOne for short) in 2004. eOne was acquired by toy and multimedia company Hasbro in 2019, absorbed its family brands division in the process and announced the sale of this division to the Blackstone Group in April 2021, which then adopted this name. Facemob
Facemob was an American hip hop group put together by rapper Scarface. The group consisted of 350, DMG, Devin the Dude, Chi-Ray and Smit-D, with Scarface producing and writing songs for the group's debut album. The group first made an uncredited appearance on Scarface's 1995 single " Among the Walking Dead" from the ''Walking Dead'' soundtrack album, but the group's first official appearance came later in the year on the ''Tales from the Hood'' soundtrack album on the self-titled song "Face Mob". Facemob also appeared on the soundtrack albums for '' Original Gangstas'' and ''High School High'' before releasing their debut album, '' The Other Side of the Law'', which peaked at 51 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Def Jam South was a music division of Def Jam Recordings. The label focused primarily on southern acts. It was best known for launching the career of its first artist signed, Ludacris and his own imprint, Disturbing tha Peace. In 2004, following the signing of Jeezy and hip-hop's overdominance of trap music, the division was folded into Def Jam. Company history History In the late 1990s, hip hop's main popularity moved from West Coast hip hop and East Coast hip hop to Southern hip hop. Co-founder of Def Jam Recordings, Russell Simmons, wanted to capitalize off of the success of southern rap. He recruited Scarface, a southern rap legend and former member of the Geto Boys to be the head of the label and, by 1999, the label was established.
