Scala, Campania
Scala is a town and ''comune ''in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. It is located on a rocky hill c. 400 m above sea-level and is part of the Amalfi Coast. History According to an ancient and unproven tradition, it was founded by Roman shipwrecks travelling to Constantinople. In the Middle Ages Scala was, together with Ravello, the most important fortification of the Duchy of Amalfi. Its two castles (mentioned in a document of c. 1000 AD) were sacked by Robert Guiscard in 1073 and destroyed by the Pisane sixty years later. La Scala is a heritage-listed detached house at 517 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Thomas Ramsay Hall and built . It was originally known as ''Craig Athol''. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History The three-storeyed timber house was built in 1914 for Dr Thomas Henry Reeve Mathewson to a design by architect Thomas Ramsay Hall. Mathewson named the house ''Craig Athol''. He operated his practice from the ground floor and lived in the house above. In 1923 he moved his practice to Wickham Terrace but continued to live in the house, renting out the ground floor to another doctor. Tina Scala (July 16, 1935 – January 10, 2022) was an Italian-born American actress, model, singer and poet. Early life The daughter of an Italian father and an Irish mother, Scala's early life was one of privilege. As Agatina Carmen Maria Scoglio, she was born in Mili San Marco, Sicily, but became known as Tina. At 17, she settled in Toronto, Ontario. In 1962, Scala began modeling fur coats in Toronto. Santiago Nicolás Scala (born 6 February 1991) is an Argentine basketball player for Boca Juniors of the Liga Nacional de Básquet (LNB). At a height of tall, he plays at the point guard position. Professional career Argentina Scala began his professional career at Argentino de Junín, a club in his hometown. His first two seasons with the Buenos Aires team were in the Torneo Nacional de Ascenso, the second division of Argentine basketball. After becoming champions in 2010, Argentino de Junín was promoted to the LNB, which allowed Scala to show that he could play in the top category. Salvatore Scala (1944 – December 30, 2008), also known as "Fat Sal" and "Uncle Sal", was a New York mobster who became a ''caporegime'' in the Gambino crime family. Nevio Scala (; born 22 November 1947) is an Italian football sporting director, coach and former player. Throughout his footballing career, he played as a midfielder for several Italian clubs, and won several titles during his time with AC Milan. Emilio "Mim" Scala (born 1940) is the co-founder of the London-based television, film and theatrical agency Scala Brown Associates. Early life and career Mim Scala was born in London in 1940. He attended St Augustine's School and Hammersmith and Chelsea Art School at Manresa Rd, Chelsea. He grew up in the Northend Road, Fulham, before moving to the King's Road.
