Alan Saville
Alan Saville (31 December 1946 – 19 June 2016) was a British archaeologist and museum curator. Saville is best known for his "ground-breaking"' and "meticulous" excavations of the Neolithic Hazleton long barrows, Hazleton North long barrow near Hazleton in Gloucestershire, undertaken between 1979 and 1982. Life and career Saville was born in Lewisham, London, and studied Ancient History and Archaeology at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 1968. He worked in the West Midlands, then on the lithic assemblage from Roger Mercer's excavations at Grimes Graves, working for the Inspectorate of Ancient Monuments at the Department of the Environment (DoE). In 1972 the DoE sent him to Gloucestershire to excavate the Neolithic long barrow at Coaley Peak, Frocester. The British Film Institute's Screenonline website described Saville as "one of Britain's most prolific and pioneering television and film directors". Peter Francis Saville (26 October 1946 – 5 January 2022) was a British chartered occupational psychologist specialising in psychometrics, personality and talent management. He co-founded Saville and Holdsworth Ltd (SHL) in 1977. He was founder and chairman of the Saville Consulting Group from 2006 to 2015 when it was sold to Towers Watson (now Willis Towers Watson). Saville was an instigator of psychometric testing in the modern workplace and held an Academic Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development for Leadership and Research Innovation. Peter Andrew Saville (born 9 October 1955) is an English art director and graphic designer. He designed many record sleeves for Factory Records, which he co-founded in 1978 alongside Tony Wilson and Alan Erasmus. Early life Peter Saville was born in Manchester, Lancashire, and attended St Ambrose College. He studied graphic design at Manchester Polytechnic from 1975 to 1978. Saville became involved in the music scene after meeting Tony Wilson, the journalist and broadcaster. The meeting resulted in Wilson commissioning the first Factory poster ( FAC 1). Saville was a partner in Factory Records along with Wilson, Martin Hannett, Rob Gretton and Alan Erasmus.
