Saud Al-Asfoor
Saud Abdulaziz Saud Al-Asfoor Al-Hajri ( ar, سعود عبدالعزيز سعود العصفور الهاجري; born 1972) is a journalist and engineer that has served in the National Assembly since 2023. He also served in the annulled 2022 Assembly. He is also the owner of ''Sabr'' e-Newspaper. Early career Saud Al-Asfoor was born on 1972 in Kuwait City. He studied his bachelor's and master's degree on mechanical engineering in the United States. He worked in Ministry of Public Works as an engineer. During 2006, Al-Asfoor opened the National Kuwaiti Network website, which allowed people to write their opinions anonymously and without requiring IP information. On 2 May 2011, Saud opened a e-newspaper called ''Sabr''. In 2011, Saud worked on ''Talk Show with Al-Waishi'' that aired on Al-Yawm until 2014. Alam Al Yawm
''Alam Al Yawm'' (Arabic: عالم اليوم; ''The World of Today'') was a newspaper published in Kuwait. The paper had an independent and moderate stance and was in circulation between 2007 and 2014. History and profile ''Alam Al Yawn'' was first published on 8 January 2007. The founders were two businessmen, Ahmad Al Daas and Ahmad Al Jabr Al Shemmeri. The former was also the editor-in-chief. Al Shemmeri was the owner of ''Alam Al Yawm''. In 2012 ''Alam Al Yawn'' sold 23,000 copies. In April 2014, the paper and ''Al Watan'' were temporarily closed down for two weeks by the Kuwaiti government due to the publication of a videotape allegedly showing former senior officials plotting a coup in Kuwait. In June 2014, both papers were again shut down for five days because of the same reason. ''Al Rai'' (), which was published as '' Al Rai Alaam'' () from 1995 to 2006, is a Kuwaiti daily newspaper. 2023 Kuwaiti General Election
Snap general elections were held in Kuwait on 6 June 2023 to elect 50 of the 65 members of the National Assembly. The elections took place following the annulment of the results of the 2022 snap elections by the Constitutional Court on 19 March 2023 and the redissolution of the 16th session on 2 May. Background During the 16th legislative session, uncooperative MPs and ministers led to multiple no-confidence votes and several government resignations. Actions such as members sitting in ministers' seats in the parliament, led to ministers not attend sessions, which in turn resulted in a member-organized sit-in in the parliament building. This prompted Crown Prince Mishal Al-Ahmad to dissolve parliament on 2 August 2022. Multiple former MPs and citizens appealed to the Constitutional Court to overturn the dissolution.
