Saturdays Of Thunder
"Saturdays of Thunder" is the ninth episode of the third season of the American animated television series ''The Simpsons''. It originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on November 14, 1991. In the episode, Homer realizes he knows little about Bart and strives to be a better father. When he learns Bart is competing in a Soap Box Derby, Homer helps him make a racer. Bart drives Martin's far superior racer instead, hurting Homer's feelings. Homer eventually realizes he must be a good father by supporting Bart. The episode was written by Ken Levine and David Isaacs, and directed by Jim Reardon. American actors Larry McKay and Phil Hartman voiced guest appearances as a television announcer and Troy McClure respectively. Jim Reardon
Jim Reardon is an American animator, storyboard artist, television writer, television director, and screenwriter. He is best known for his work on the animated TV series ''The Simpsons''. He has directed over 30 episodes of the series and was credited as a supervising director for seasons 9 through 15. Reardon attended the Character Animation program at the California Institute of the Arts in 1982, where one of his student projects, the satirical cartoon '' Bring Me the Head of Charlie Brown'' (1986), has become a cult classic through the likes of YouTube. He was hired by John Kricfalusi as a writer on '' Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures'' and later worked on ''Tiny Toon Adventures''. The Soap Box Derby is a youth soapbox car racing program which has been run in the United States since 1933. World Championship finals are held each July at Derby Downs in Akron, Ohio. Cars competing in this and related events are unpowered, relying completely upon gravity to move. History In the wake of the first car races, local youth auto races took place in the US at a very early stage. In 1914 the motion picture Kid Auto Races at Venice starring Charlie Chaplin was shown in the cinemas. In 1933 Myron Scott, a photographer for Dayton, Ohio, newspaper Dayton Daily News, saw Robert A. ''The Itchy & Scratchy Show'' (often shortened as ''Itchy & Scratchy'') is a fictional animated television series featured on ''The Simpsons''. Description The show depicts a blue mouse named Itchy who repeatedly and violently maims or kills a black cat, Scratchy. It is typically presented as 15- to 60-second-long cartoons that are a part of ''The Krusty the Clown Show.'' Lisa Marie Simpson is a fictional character in the animated television series '' The Simpsons''. She is the middle child and most accomplished of the Simpson family. Sam Simon
Samuel Michael Simon (June 6, 1955 – March 8, 2015) was an American director, producer, writer, animal rights activist and philanthropist, who co-developed the television series ''The Simpsons''. While at Stanford University, Simon worked as a newspaper cartoonist and after graduating became a storyboard artist at Filmation Studios. Simon submitted a spec script for the sitcom ''Taxi'', which was produced, and he later became the series' showrunner. Over the next few years, Simon wrote and produced for ''Cheers'', '' It's Garry Shandling's Show'' and other programs, as well as writing the 1991 film ''The Super''.
