Saturday In The Park (music Festival)
Saturday in the Park is an annual festival that is held at Grandview Park Municipal Bandshell in Sioux City, Iowa first held in 1991. The festival falls on the Saturday closest to the 4th of July and attracts around 50,000 people from all over the Midwest for the weekend. The festival coincides with an annual pilgrimage of representatives from Sioux City's sister city, Lake Charles, Louisiana, Lake Charles, Louisiana, adding a Mardi Gras-inflected Cajun accent. History Saturday in the Park started in 1991 by Dave Bernstein and Adam Feiges to bring a concert to a park that "seemed it was completely underutilized." Since its inception in 1991, festival sponsors have included Chesterman Co. of Sioux City, Gateway Inc., and the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Sioux City. Saturday is the day of the week between Friday and Sunday. No later than the 2nd century, the Romans named Saturday ("Saturn's Day") for the god Saturn. Sublime With Rome
Sublime with Rome was a band that began as a musical collaboration between former Sublime (band), Sublime members Eric Wilson (bassist), Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh, and singer and guitarist Rome Ramirez. Ramirez began performing with Gaugh and Wilson in 2009, where they played under the name "Sublime". The estate of late Sublime frontman Bradley Nowell issued a legal challenge to the use of the trademarked name for a venture not including Nowell. As a result, they changed their name to "Sublime with Rome" in January 2010. The group played at the 2009 Smokeout Festival and embarked on their first tour in 2010, before releasing their debut album, ''Yours Truly (Sublime with Rome album), Yours Truly'', on July 12, 2011. Son Seals
Frank "Son" Seals (August 14, 1942 – December 20, 2004) was an American electric blues guitarist and singer. In 2009, Seals was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. Career Seals was born in Osceola, Arkansas, where his father, Jim "Son" Seals, owned a small juke joint, called the Dipsy Doodle Club. He began performing professionally by the age of 13, first as a drummer with Robert Nighthawk and later as a guitarist. At age 16, he began to play at the T-99, a local upper-echelon club, with his brother-in-law Walter "Little Walter" Jefferson. He played there with prominent blues musicians, including Albert King, Rufus Thomas, Bobby Bland, Junior Parker, and Rosco Gordon. Their varying styles contributed to the development of Seals's own playing techniques. Charon Shemekia Copeland (born April 10, 1979) is an American electric blues vocalist. She has released 12 albums, won nine Blues Music Awards, and won five Blues Blast Music Awards. In 2024, Copeland received nominations at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards for Best American Roots Performance, Best American Roots Song, and Best Contemporary Blues Album. Bob Log III (born November 21, 1969) is an American slide guitar one-man band based in Tucson, Arizona, and Melbourne, Australia. During performances, he plays old Silvertone archtop guitars, wears a full body human cannonball suit, and a helmet wired to a telephone receiver, which allows him to devote his hands and feet to guitar and drums. Los Lobos (, Spanish for "the Wolves") is a Mexican American rock group, rock band from East Los Angeles, California. Forrest Richard Betts (December 12, 1943 – April 18, 2024) was an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He was best known as a longtime member of the Allman Brothers Band. A co-founder of the band when it formed in 1969, he was central to the group's greatest commercial success in the mid-1970s, and was the writer and vocalist on the Allmans' hit single " Ramblin' Man". The Allman Brothers Band broke up and re-formed twice, always with Betts in the lineup, until he left the band in 2000. The Neville Brothers were an American R&B/soul/funk group, formed in 1976 in New Orleans, Louisiana. History The group notion started in 1976, when the four brothers of the Neville family, Art (1937–2019), Charles (1938–2018), Aaron (b. 1941), and Cyril (b. 1948) came together to take part in the recording session of the Wild Tchoupitoulas, a Mardi Gras Indian group led by the Nevilles' uncle, George Landry ("Big Chief Jolly").
