Saturday Night Live Season 14
The fourteenth season of ''Saturday Night Live'', an American sketch comedy series, originally aired in the United States on NBC between October 8, 1988 and May 20, 1989. A new show logo was used starting with this season. It was made up of the words SATURDAY + NIGHT + LIVE styled in a circle. It was used until the end of the show's 20th season in 1995. This season notably saw the death of a second original cast member, Gilda Radner, who died on the day of the season finale from ovarian cancer. In memory of Radner, Steve Martin showed a clip from the "Dancing in the Dark" sketch from the 1978 episode hosted by Martin in lieu of his planned monologue. This season introduced the "Wayne's World" skits. Cast Mike Myers made his debut as a cast member midseason. The first Wayne's World sketch aired on February 18, 1989. Saturday Night Live Season 13
The thirteenth season of ''Saturday Night Live'', an American sketch comedy series, originally aired in the United States on NBC between October 17, 1987 and February 27, 1988. Although the changes to the cast and writers were minimal, the season was cut short due to the 1988 Writers Guild of America strike. Production During a dress rehearsal for the season premiere, a fire broke out near Studio 8H and was planned to be postponed. However, episode host Steve Martin pushed the cast to carry on with the show, making the Steve Martin/Sting episode the only episode without a dress rehearsal. On March 7, the Writers Guild of America went on strike. The strike continued until August, thus cutting the season short at 13 episodes. Phil Hartman
Philip Edward Hartman (; September 24, 1948 – May 28, 1998) was a Canadian-American actor, comedian, screenwriter and graphic designer. Hartman was born in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, and his family moved to the United States when he was ten years old. After graduating from California State University, Northridge with a degree in graphic arts, he designed album covers for bands including Poco and America. In 1975, he joined the comedy group The Groundlings, where he helped Paul Reubens develop his character, Pee-wee Herman. "Take It So Hard" is the first single from Keith Richards' first solo record, '' Talk Is Cheap''. The long-time Rolling Stones guitarist recorded the record after bandmate Mick Jagger refused to tour in 1986 in support of the album '' Dirty Work''. The second song of the eleven track record, it is a powerful example of vocal rock harmonies and rhythmic guitar, piano and percussion syncopation, with an overlay of vocal tracks that bury the lyrics within the push and pull of the music.
