The Bezirk St. Johann im Pongau is an administrative district (''Bezirk'') in the federal state of Salzburg, Austria, and congruent with the Pongau region. Area of the district is 1,755.37 km2, with a population of 77,872 (May 15, 2001), and population density 44 persons per km2. Administrative center of the district is St. Johann im Pongau. Großarl
Grossarl (Großarl) is a market town in the St. Johann im Pongau district in the state of Salzburg in western central Austria. The valley Grossarltal got its name from Grossarl. Geography Location The market town is located in the Grossarl Valley in Pongau, south of the city of Salzburg. Hüttschlag
Hüttschlag is a municipality in the district of St. Johann im Pongau in the Austrian state of Salzburg. Geography Hüttschlag lies in the Grossarl valley, south of the Grossarl municipality, in the Salzburg ''Pongau'' region. The settlement is situated in the upper valley immediately north of the Alpine crest, formed by the Ankogel and Hafner mountains of the High Tauern range. From Hüttschlag only a bridle pass leads up to ''Arlscharte'' Pass and the Malta valley in Carinthia. The municipal area comprises the cadastral communities of Hüttschlag proper, Karteis, and See. Goldegg
Goldegg, also called Goldegg im Pongau, is a municipality in St. Johann im Pongau District, in the state of Salzburg in Austria. Geography It is situated on a sunny plateau north of the Salzach River, the so-called « Sunny Terrace » at a distance of south of the City of Salzburg. In fact, the village owes its name (“Goldegg at the lake”) to a small lake at which it is located. Flachau
Flachau is a village in the district of St. Johann im Pongau in the Austrian state of Salzburg, with a population of 2,802 (2016 data). Its numerous skiing facilities are part of the Ski Amadé network of ski areas, one of the largest in Europe. Dorfgastein is a municipality in St. Johann im Pongau District, in the Austrian state of Salzburg. Geography It is located on the northern entrance of the Gastein Valley within the Hohe Tauern mountain range, south of the broader Salzach Valley.
