The St. John the Baptist Cathedral () or simply Cathedral of Carora, is a Catholic building located in the San Juan street between Bolivar and Lara Avenues of the city of Carora, in the municipality of Pedro León Torres, in the Lara state in the west central part of the South American country of Venezuela. The cathedral follows the Roman or Latin rite and is completely decorated in white, and has a great religious, historical, heritage value and is a major tourist spot. The Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist () is a Catholic cathedral in Badajoz, Extremadura, western Spain. Since 1994, together with the Co-cathedral of Saint Mary Major of Mérida, it is the seat of the Archdiocese of Mérida-Badajoz. History After the reconquest of Badajoz in 1230 by King Alfonso IX of León, the new bishop Pedro Pérez initially adapted the former mosque in the Badajoz Alcazaba (citadel) as a cathedral. A new cathedral was not begun until the mid-13th century. The site chosen was that of a pre-existing Visigothic and Mozarabic church in the Campo de San Juan, situated outside the citadel. In 1270, though the construction was not finished, the new cathedral was consecrated and dedicated to St. John the Baptist. The Santuario de San Juan Evangelista, also known as the Shrine of St. John the Evangelist or Dagupan Church, is a Roman Catholic church located along Jovellanos Street and Zamora Street, Dagupan, Pangasinan in the Philippines. It belongs to the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan. History The shrine traces its origins back to the late 1590s and early 1610s as the parish church of Dagupan, when the Augustinians assumed spiritual administration of the then-town, with Rev. Fr. Kuis Huete serving as the first parish priest. In 1660, the church was burned by the men of Andres Malong, a local chieftain of Binalatongan (now San Carlos) and leader of the Malong Revolt against the Spaniards. The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Chachapoyas ( ), also called Chachapoyas Cathedral, is a parish of the Catholic Church and seat of the Diocese of Chachapoyas. The cathedral church is located on the main square of the city of Chachapoyas, the capital of the Department of Amazonas, Peru. It is under the pastoral responsibility of Bishop Emiliano Antonio Cisneros Martínez. The settlement was founded in 1538. It was elevated to cathedral status with the erection of the Diocese of Chachapoyas on June 2, 1843, split from the diocese of Maynas by the bull "Ex Sublimi Petri" of Pope Gregory XVI.
