San Jacopo Tra Fossi
The Evangelical Methodist Church of Florence is an Italian Methodist church located on via de' Benci #9 of Florence, region of Tuscany, Italy. The congregation occupies the former Roman Catholic church of ''San Jacopo tra i Fossi'', founded in the 12th century. It was originally staffed by Vallombrosian monks of San Salvi, but by 1543 it was transferred to the Augustinian order that had remained faithful to Cosimo I. The present church was rebuilt in the 17th century. The adjacent convent and church were suppressed in 1808. The church was allocated in 1874 to the Scottish missionary John R. MacDougall. As of 2013, the Methodist Church is currently cared for by the pastor of the Waldensian Church of Florence, and the Tuscany Methodist Circuit. Methodist Evangelical Church In Italy
The Methodist Evangelical Church in Italy ( it, Chiese Evangelica Metodista in Italia), known also as Italian Methodist Church (''Chiese Metodista Italiana''), is a Protestant church in the Methodist tradition active in Italy that was independent until it united with the historical Waldensian Evangelical Church to form the Union of Methodist and Waldensian Churches. As such, it was part of the World Methodist Council. The first Italian Methodist churches were founded by British and American missionaries in the 19th century. The missionary work became difficult during the Fascist regime, but finally in 1946 the Methodist Evangelical Church of Italy was born as a district of the Annual Conference of the Methodist Church of Great Britain. The Waldensian Evangelical Church (''Chiesa Evangelica Valdese'', CEV) is a Protestant denomination active in Italy and Switzerland that was independent until it united with the Methodist Evangelical Church in Italy in the Union of Methodist and Waldensian Churches. Alessandro Gherardini
Alessandro Gherardini (16 November 1655 – 1726) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active mainly in Florence. He was the pupil of the painter Alessandro Rosi. In Florence, he painted a ''Crucifixion'' for the Monastery of the Augustines adjacent to Santa Maria dei Candeli; and frescoes from the ''Life of St. Anthony'' for the Convent of San Marco, Florence, San Marco. He painted frescoes on the ''Life of Alexander the Great'' for Casa Orlandini. He is described as a competitor for commissions in Florence with Anton Domenico Gabbiani.
