Sam Lane (rugby Union)
Samuel Thomas Lane (born 21 February 1991 in Brisbane, Australia) is a rugby union footballer, currently playing with Italian side Rugby Calvisano in the Top12 and European Rugby Continental Shield. His regular playing position is fly-half. Career He made his debut for the during the 2012 Super Rugby season. He previously represented Western Province in South Africa's Vodacom Cup. Lane attended Bishops in Cape Town, South Africa and played in their First XV in 2008 and 2009 alongside Springbok Nizaam Carr. Lane was the Bishops captain in 2009 and made the Western Province Craven Week side that year. He is the son of former Wallabies assistant coach Tim Lane. The Vodacom Cup was an annual rugby union competition in South Africa. Annual Vodacom Cup competitions were played between its inaugural season in 1998 and 2015 and was contested between February and May each year. The Vodacom Cup was the successor of the Bankfin Nite Series which was played in 1996 and 1997. Mobile communications provider Vodacom was the title sponsor for the entire duration of the competition. The competition was the third most prestigious in South African rugby, behind Super Rugby and the Currie Cup. The 2013 Super Rugby season was the third season of the new 15-team format for the Super Rugby competition involving teams from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Nizaam Carr
Nizaam Carr (born 4 April 1991) is a South African rugby union footballer who plays either as a flanker, loose forward or number 8 and back rower. He is renowned for his athleticism and linking play. Personal life Carr grew up in Mitchell's Plain and attended West End Primary before his father moved to Rondebosch East, where he still lives with his family. Carr is the first Muslim to be named in a Springboks squad and to play for his national team after his subsequent debut against Italy. He fasts during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, even while playing rugby.
