Sam George (surfer)
Sam George is an American professional surfer, writer, director and screenwriter. A former competitive surfer, in 1983 George became a contributing editor at ''Surfing'' magazine in San Clemente, California, later becoming the magazine's senior editor. His monthly column "Caught Inside" ran until 1990, when he left ''Surfing'' and began work at ''Surfer'' magazine. George worked at ''Surfer'' from 1990 to 1998, when he left the magazine to work on a book project and to help start and edit a free tabloid called ''SurfNews''. He returned to ''Surfer'' as executive editor in 2000, a position he held until 2005, when he left the magazine to concentrate on documentary film projects. In 2007, George directed the documentary '' The Lost Wave'', about his discovery of an indigenous surfing tradition in São Tomé and Príncipe. Sam George (activist)
Maynard Donald "Sam" George (July 1, 1952 – June 3, 2009) was a Canadian native rights activist. His brother Dudley George was killed following a standoff with Ontario Provincial Police during the Ipperwash Crisis. Sam played an important role in forcing a judicial inquiry, the Ipperwash Inquiry into the events at Ipperwash. He was born in Windsor, Ontario, the son of Reginald George and Genevieve Rogers, the fifth of ten children. Both parents served in the Canadian military during World War II and had been forced off the Stoney Point Reserve by the Canadian government in 1942. George learned the trade of carpentry and later worked as a youth counsellor for the Kettle and Stony Point First Nation. He also coached amateur hockey. George was named to the Order of Ontario in 2008. In presenting the award, Ontario's Lieutenant-Governor said "Sam George was steadfast in his quest for justice for his brother and his community. Sam George (born June 29, 1970 in Mission Viejo, California) is a retired American soccer midfielder who played two seasons in the Western Soccer Alliance, three in the Continental Indoor Soccer League and four in Major League Soccer. Youth George grew up playing soccer with the North Huntington Beach Futbol Club. In 1988, he entered UCLA where he played on the Bruins soccer team from 1988 to 1991. Hon. Samuel Nartey George (born 22 January 1985) is a Ghanaian politician. He is from Ahwiam, Old Ningo. He is a member of the National Democratic Congress. Samantha George
Dr Samantha George is a Senior Lecturer in Literature in the Social Sciences, Arts & Humanities Research Institute at the University of Hertfordshire. She completed a PhD at the University of York in 2004, then taught in the Department of English Literature at Sheffield University till taking up her post at Hertfordshire in 2007. She is known for her research on eighteenth century literature and science with a particular emphasis on the role of women and botany. She is also known for her work on Gothic and vampire literature and culture, and is the convener of the 'Open Graves, Open Minds: Vampires and the Undead in Modern Culture' (OGOM) research project at the University of Hertfordshire.
