Sahr Randolf Fillie-Faboe
Sahr Randolf Fillie-Faboe (born in Kono District, Sierra Leone) is a Sierra Leonean politician and diplomat. He is a former Sierra Leone's Ambassador to Liberia and a former member of parliament of Sierra Leone. Fillie-Faboe is one of the most respected politician among the Kono people, the ethnic group he belongs to. On Sierra Leone's independence Day, independence day on April 27, 2007, Fillie-Faboe was given the award of National Honours and Decorations by president Ahmad Tejan Kabbah at the state house in Freetown. The award was given in recognition of his distinguished service to the nation in the fields of diplomacy and politics. He had served as Ambassador, Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and now as Resident Minister in the Eastern Province, which post he has held for the last seven years. Kono District
Kono District is a Districts of Sierra Leone, district in the Eastern Province, Sierra Leone, Eastern Province of Sierra Leone. Its capital and largest city is Koidu, Koidu Town. Motema is the second most populous city in the district. The other major towns in the district include Yengema, Tombodu, Jaiama-Nimokoro, Jaiama Nimikor and Sewafe. Kono People
The Kono people (pronounced ''koh noh'') are a major Mande-speaking ethnic group in Sierra Leone at 5.2% of the country's total population. Their homeland is the diamond-rich Kono District in eastern Sierra Leone. The Kono are primarily diamond miners and farmers. The Kono people speak the Kono language as their first language and is the most widely spoken language among the Kono people. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah
Alhaji Ahmad Tejan Kabbah (February 16, 1932 – March 13, 2014) was a Sierra Leonean politician who served twice as the 3rd President of Sierra Leone, from 1996 to 1997 and again from 1998 to 2007. An economist and attorney by profession, Kabbah spent many years working for the United Nations Development Programme. He retired from the United Nations and returned to Sierra Leone in 1992. In early 1996, Kabbah was elected leader of the Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) and was the party's presidential candidate in the country's first free presidential election later that year. He was elected with 59% of the vote, defeating his closest rival, John Karefa-Smart of the United National People's Party (UNPP), who had 40% in the runoff vote and conceded defeat. Koidu Town (or Sefadu) is the capital and largest city of the diamond-rich Kono District in the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone.
