''Saddle Up and Ride'' is an EP by American alternative rock band The Lucid. The EP comprises five songs, two of them featuring additional vocals by Violent J from Insane Clown Posse. The final track is a re-Imagining of the Faith No More song "Epic" retitled as "Sweet Toof" with new lyrics and melodies written by Vinnie Dombroski and Violent J. Background In 2022 The Lucid bassist David Ellefson announced that new music was imminent from the band. In December 2022 the band released the single, "Saddle Up and Ride"'','' featuring Insane Clown Posse singer Violent J along with a release date of January 27, 2023 for an EP of the same name. A week later a second single, "Mumps" was released; followed by "Risk Machine" in mid-January. The final single "Sweet Toof", also featuring Violent J, was put out a week before the EP's release. The Lucid
The Lucid is an American hard rock group consisting of guitarist Drew Fortier (ex-Bang Tango), drummer Mike Heller (Malignancy (band), Malignancy, Raven (British band), Raven, ex-Fear Factory), bassist David Ellefson (ex-Megadeth), and vocalist Vinnie Dombroski (Sponge (band), Sponge, Spys4Darwin). History The band was formed in early 2020 with guitarist Drew Fortier and drummer Mike Heller demoing song ideas for a potential new project. This led to Fortier's frequent collaborator, bassist David Ellefson, joining the fold with vocalist Vinnie Dombroski following soon after to complete the line up. The four met in L.A. in July 2020 to finish recording what would eventually become their self-titled debut album ''The Lucid''. Post-grunge is an offshoot of grunge that has a less abrasive or intense tone than traditional grunge. Mike Heller
Mike Heller is an American drummer known as a former member of the industrial metal band Fear Factory, member of the technical death metal band Malignancy, the British heavy metal band Raven, and rock band The Lucid alongside bassist David Ellefson (ex Megadeth), guitarist Drew Fortier, and vocalist Vinnie Dombroski (Sponge). Heller also formed the band System Divide and is a session drummer with credits in many genres. Biography Heller traces his musical and drumming influences across many genres, including gospel, Latin jazz and funk. He has been known to incorporate these styles into his death metal compositions, although they can be difficult to recognize when played at death metal tempos. ''The Lucid'' is the debut studio album by American hard rock band The Lucid. It was released on 15 October 2021 in the United States by SpoilerHead Records. The album was recorded in June and July 2020; shortly after the band's formation. The bass and drums were tracked at Heaven and Heller Studio in Los Angeles, California with the guitars and vocals being remotely recorded by Drew Fortier and Vinnie Dombroski at their respective home studios. It was produced by the band's drummer, Mike Heller and mixed and mastered by Lasse Lammert. Background and recording The initial ideas for the album began in April 2020 during remote demo writing sessions between guitarist Drew Fortier and drummer Mike Heller (Fear Factory, Raven). Joseph Frank Bruce (born April 28, 1972), known by his stage name Violent J, is an American rapper, record producer, professional wrestler, actor, and part of the hip hop duo Insane Clown Posse (ICP). He is a co-founder of the record label Psychopathic Records, with fellow ICP rapper Shaggy 2 Dope (Joseph Utsler) and their former manager, Alex Abbiss.
