Sacramento County Jail
The Sacramento County Jail is one of the county jails for the Sacramento County, California, Sacramento County area of the US State of California, serviced by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department. It is located on 651 I Street, approximately 100 meters from Downtown Commons. Completed in 1989, the jail complex includes the Lorenzo Patiño Hall of Justice of the Sacramento County Superior Court. The jail replaces the Sacramento County Sheriff's Jail, formerly located at 620 I Street, which was demolished after the completion of this complex in 1989. The jail has been operating under a federal consent decree since 1993. A consent decree is an agreement or settlement that resolves a dispute between two parties without admission of guilt (in a criminal case) or liability (in a civil case). Theodore John Kaczynski ( ; May 22, 1942 – June 10, 2023), also known as the Unabomber ( ), was an American mathematician and domestic terrorist. He was a mathematics prodigy, but abandoned his academic career in 1969 to pursue a reclusive primitive lifestyle and lone wolf terrorism campaign to further his political agenda. Dorothea Puente
Dorothea Helen Puente (; January 9, 1929 – March 27, 2011) was an American convicted serial killer. In the 1980s, she ran a boarding house in Sacramento, California, and murdered various elderly and mentally disabled boarders before cashing their Social Security checks. Puente's total count reached nine murders; she was convicted of three and the jury hung on the other six. Newspapers dubbed Puente the "Death House Landlady". Background Dorothea Puente was born Dorothea Helen Gray on January 9, 1929, in Redlands, California, to Trudy Mae () and Jesse James Gray.
