Sackler Faculty Of Medicine
Gray Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences (formerly the Sackler Faculty of Medicine) is a medical school affiliated with Tel Aviv University, located in Tel Aviv, Israel. History The Sackler School of Medicine was named for Arthur, Mortimer and Raymond Sackler. Purdue Pharma, the Sacklers' pharmaceutical company, was the developer of OxyContin, a version of the opioid analgesic compound, oxycodone. All three Sacklers were medical professionals who made substantial donations to the school. Each year the school has presented the Sackler Prize for a significant contribution to the fields of physics or chemistry. The school has consistently been ranked one of the 151-200 best medical schools according to the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. Karen Avraham
Karen B. Avraham (Hebrew: קרן אברהם) is an Israeli-American human geneticist and the first female Dean of Tel Aviv University's Faculty of Medicine. Born in Canada in 1962, Avraham moved to the US at a young age. Her research focuses on the discovery and characterization of genes responsible for hereditary hearing loss. Education Avraham received her B.A. degree in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis and her Ph.D. from the Weizmann Institute of Science, under the supervision of Yoram Groner, and post-doctoral training at the National Cancer Institute, under the supervision of Nancy Jenkins and Neal Copeland. Yuval Cherlow (; born 1957) is a Modern Orthodox rabbi and posek. He is Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Hesder Amit Orot Shaul in Tel Aviv, Israel. Cherlow was one of the founders of Tzohar, an organization of religious Zionist Orthodox rabbis in Israel. Biography Yuval Cherlow was born in Herzliya, Israel. His parents were American-Jewish immigrants who moved to Israel in 1949. He was educated in Yeshivat Har Etzion. As part of his Hesder studies, he served as an armor officer in the IDF.
