STV Hogmanay Specials
''STV Hogmanay specials'' are broadcast on commercial channel STV, and are annual event programmes broadcast on Hogmanay, Scotland's New Year's Eve celebration. The specials have been pre-recorded since 2009, having previously been aired live. Before the merger of Scottish TV and Grampian TV in 2006 to become "STV", the Scottish broadcasters shared Hogmanay programming since their parent company, SMG was formed in 1997. The Hour (2009 TV Programme)
''The Hour'' is a lifestyle magazine programme that was broadcast on STV, the ITV franchise in Northern and Central Scotland, premiering on 26 May 2009. Originally broadcast each weekday afternoon at 5pm, the programme was presented for much of its run by Michelle McManus and Stephen Jardine and broadcast from STV's Pacific Quay studios in Glasgow. The programme moved to a weekly peak time slot in September 2011, but was cancelled in October 2011. History ''The Hour'' began in May 2009 as an hour-long replacement for ''The Five Thirty Show'', which had aired on weekdays since January 2008. Whilst its male presenter, Stephen Jardine, remained with the programme since its launch, his female co-host rotated between various personalities until October 2009, when it was announced that regular guest host Michelle McManus would become a main co-host. Jenni Falconer
Jenni Falconer (born 12 February 1976) is a Scottish radio and television presenter. She appears on the ITV daytime show '' This Morning'' as a regular travel reporter and was a regular presenter of the National Lottery Draws on BBC One. Falconer was also a radio presenter on Heart FM until December 2019, and since 2020 has been host for Smooth London breakfast and Saturday mid-mornings. Early life Falconer spent her early years in Bishopbriggs and Milngavie, two towns on the northern outskirts of Glasgow. She has a younger brother. Seán Dillon
Seán Dillon (born 30 July 1983) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a defender for club Montrose, where he is a player-coach. He previously played for Dundee United and Irish teams Longford Town and Shelbourne in the League of Ireland prior to joining Dundee United in January 2007 then Montrose in June 2017. He has represented the Republic of Ireland at under-16, under-21 and B international level. Lorraine Kelly (born 30 November 1959) is a Scottish television presenter. She has presented various television shows for ITV and STV, including '' Good Morning Britain'' (1988–1992), ''GMTV'' (1993–2010), ''This Morning'' (2003–2005, 2016), '' Daybreak'' (2012–2014), '' The Sun Military Awards'' (2016–present), '' STV Children's Appeal'' (2016–present), and her eponymous programme '' Lorraine'' (2010–present). Janey Godley
Jane Godley Currie (20 January 1961 – 2 November 2024), known professionally as Janey Godley, was a Scottish stand-up comedian, actress, writer and political activist. She began her stand-up career in 1994, and won various awards for her comedy in the 2000s. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she made a series of voice over clips of politicians and other well known personalities. The following year, she was dropped from a pantomime performance of ''Beauty and the Beast'' after a series of controversial racist tweets emerged, for which Godley later apologised. Nicola Sturgeon
Nicola Ferguson Sturgeon (born 19 July 1970) is a Scottish politician who served as First Minister of Scotland and Leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP) from 2014 to 2023. Stirling Castle
Stirling Castle, located in Stirling, is one of the largest and most historically and architecturally important castles in Scotland. The castle sits atop an Intrusive rock, intrusive Crag and tail, crag, which forms part of the Stirling Sill geological formation. It is surrounded on three sides by steep cliffs, giving it a strong defensive position. Its strategic location, guarding what was, until the 1890s, the lowest bridging point, farthest downstream crossing of the River Forth, has made it an important fortification in the region from the earliest times. John MacKay (journalist)
John MacKay (born 13 September 1966) is a Scottish broadcast journalist, television presenter, producer and writer. He currently is a main anchor for the ''STV News at Six'' in Central Scotland and the current affairs programme ''Scotland Tonight''. The Tron Theatre is located in Glasgow, Scotland. The theatre was formerly known as the Tron Kirk. It began as the Collegiate Church of Our Lady and St. Anne. Des McLean is a Scottish stand-up comedian, actor, and a presenter for radio and television from Glasgow. Billy Connolly has cited McLean as his favourite comedian. Comedy McLean started working in comedy in 2000, and was a finalist in both the BBC New Comedy Awards and the Channel 4 programme '' So You Think You’re Funny?''.
