STV (TV Network)
STV is a free-to-air public broadcast television channel owned and operated by the STV Group. It is made up of the Central Scotland and Northern Scotland ITV public broadcaster licences, formerly known as Scottish Television (now legally STV Central Ltd) and Grampian Television (now legally STV North Ltd) respectively. The STV brand refers to the on-air name used by Scottish Television for much of its history - notably in the 1970s and early 1980s. This brand remained in conversational use amongst the local public afterwards. The modern STV brand was adopted on Tuesday 30 May 2006 replacing both franchises' previous identities. The sense of continuity in the name was demonstrated when STV celebrated its 60th birthday in 2017, with special programmes broadcast on STV itself and STV2. ITV, legally known as Channel 3, is a British free-to-air public service broadcasting in the United Kingdom, public broadcast television network. It is branded as ITV1 in most of the UK except for central and northern Scotland, where it is branded as STV (TV channel), STV. STV2
STV2 was a British local television network in Scotland, operating five city-based TV licences serving Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen and Ayr. It was owned and operated by STV Group plc. Initially broadcast as two separate stations – STV Glasgow and STV Edinburgh – the launch of three local licences in Aberdeen, Dundee and Ayr led to the launch of a single networked service on 24 April 2017. In May 2018, it was announced that STV2 would shut down at the end of June 2018 as part of a strategic review. It closed on 30 June 2018. Al Murray's Happy Hour
''Al Murray's Happy Hour'' is a British comedy talk show presented by comedian Al Murray and produced by Avalon TV. The first series aired in early 2007 on ITV. The programme is characterised by Murray's stand-up, guest interviews and live music, and received a British Comedy Award. Format The programme has a large studio audience, which Murray interacts with and often identifies any celebrities in the audience, such as Vanessa Feltz and Uri Geller, and the members of the 'Pub of the Week'. Murray points out a regular audience member on the show by the name of "Big Bob". who has a theme song, after which, Al says, " and his wife Anne", who is considerably smaller than her husband. Sharpe's Peril
''Sharpe's Peril'' is a 2008 British TV film, usually shown in two parts, which is part of an ITV series based on Bernard Cornwell's historical fiction novels about the English soldier Richard Sharpe during the Napoleonic Wars. Unlike most parts of the TV series, ''Sharpe's Peril'' and the preceding '' Sharpe's Challenge'' are not based on Cornwell's novels. ''Lewis'' is a British television Detective fiction, detective drama produced for ITV (TV network), ITV, first airing in 2006 (Television pilot, pilot) then 2007 (series 1). It is a spin-off from ''Inspector Morse (TV series), Inspector Morse'' and, like that series, it is set in Oxford. Kevin Whately reprises his character Inspector Lewis, Robert "Robbie" Lewis, who was Morse's sergeant in the original series. ''Agatha Christie's Poirot'', or simply ''Poirot'' (), is a British mystery drama television programme that aired on ITV from 8 January 1989 to 13 November 2020. The ITV show is based on many of Agatha Christie's famous crime fiction series, which revolves around the fictional private investigator Hercule Poirot. David Suchet stars as the title character. ''Midsomer Murders'' is a British Mystery fiction, mystery television series, adapted by Anthony Horowitz and Douglas Watkinson from the novels in the ''Chief Inspector Barnaby'' book series created by Caroline Graham (writer), Caroline Graham. ''The Bill'' is a British police procedural television series, broadcast on ITV (TV network), ITV from 16 October 1984 until 31 August 2010. The programme originated from a one-off drama, "Woodentop (The Bill), Woodentop" (part of the ''Storyboard'' series), broadcast on 16 August 1983. ''STV News'' is a Scottish news division produced by STV. The news department produces two regional services covering STV's Channel 3 franchise areas of Northern and Central Scotland. STV News programmes are produced from studios in Glasgow and Aberdeen with reporters also based at newsrooms in Edinburgh, Dundee and Inverness and political correspondents based at Holyrood and Westminster.
