S5 Shanghai–Jiading Expressway
The Shanghai–Jiading Expressway, commonly referred to as the Hujia Expressway () and designated S5, is a in the city of Shanghai, China. The expressway connects the Middle Ring Road in Baoshan District with the center of Jiading District. Opened in October 1988, it is the oldest expressway in China. At the time, the expressway reduced the travel time from 2 hours to 30 minutes. Route The Shanghai–Jiading Expressway begins at an elevated interchange with the Middle Ring Road in Baoshan District to the east and south. At the interchange, motorists can continue east on Middle Ring Road toward Zhabei District, south on Middle Ring Road toward Changning District, or descend to an intersection with Zhenbei Road and Wenshui Road, which are surface-level roadways that run under Middle Ring Road. Middle Ring Road () is a ring expressway in the city of Shanghai, China. It is the second in a series of four ring expressways around the city of Shanghai. Construction began in April 2003 on the first section of the Middle Ring Road in Yangpu District. The Middle Ring Road crosses the Huangpu River twice, using the Jungong Road Tunnel and the Shangzhong Road Tunnel. Jiading District
Jiading is a suburban district of Shanghai. It had a population of 1,471,100 in 2010. History Historically, Jiading was a separate municipality/town, until, in 1958, becoming under the administration of Shanghai. Zhabei District
Zhabei, formerly romanized as Chapei, is a neighborhood and a former district of Shanghai with a land area of and a resident population of 847,300 as of 2013. It is the location of the Shanghai railway station, one of the main railway stations of Shanghai. On November 4, 2015, Zhabei was merged into the smaller but more central Jing'an District. The Shanghai Outer Ring Expressway (), designated S20, is a ring expressway that surrounds the inner districts of the city of Shanghai, China. The different sections of the road have specific names in relation to the cardinal directions.
