Hamburg S-Bahn
The Hamburg S-Bahn is a rapid transit railway system in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. Together, the S-Bahn, the Hamburg U-Bahn, the AKN Eisenbahn, AKN railway and the regional railway form the backbone of railway public transport in the city and the surrounding area. The network has operated since 1907 as a commuter rail system, under the direction of the state railway, and is a member of the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (HVV; Hamburg Transport Association). There are four lines, serving 68 stations, on of route. On an average working day the S-Bahn transports about 590,000 passengers; in 2010 about 221 million people used the S-Bahn. S3 (Berlin)
S3 is a line on the Berlin S-Bahn. It operates from Erkner to Spandau. For most of its existence since becoming a numbered route in 1984, the S3's line has been coloured blue. S3 originally was shortened to Ostbahnhof from 2003 to 2009 while awaiting renovation works. To compensate for the diminished throughput on the Stadtbahn, the (formerly Erkner ↔ Ostbahnhof) was extended westwards to Spandau. Then, it was temporarily shortened again to Ostkreuz. The S3 is a commuter rail route forming part of the Milan suburban railway service (), which converges on the city of Milan, Italy. The service runs over the Milan–Saronno railway, the oldest line owned by the Ferrovie Nord Milano. Like all other Milan suburban railway service routes, it is operated by Trenord. Route Line S3, a radial route, runs from Saronno in a south easterly direction, via the Milan–Saronno railway, to Milano Cadorna, the railway's urban terminus. The travel takes 35 minutes. Rostock S-Bahn
The Rostock S-Bahn () is a S-Bahn (suburban railway) network in Rostock in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It consists of three lines with a total length of about 90 km. Line S1 runs from Rostock Hauptbahnhof (main station) to Warnemünde station, Warnemünde within the Rostock urban area. S-Bahn operations started on 28 September 1974. Later, the lines to the north-east to the port (''Seehafen'') of Rostock and to the south to the town of Güstrow via Schwaan were included in the S-Bahn network. The line to the port was discontinued in 2012, but at same time the line to Güstrow via Laage was included as line S3 of the S-Bahn. The S3 is a service on the Munich S-Bahn network. It is operated by DB Regio Bayern. It runs from Mammendorf station to Holzkirchen station via Pasing, central Munich, Munich East, Giesing and Deisenhofen. Trains reverse in Munich East station and, in order for S-Bahn services from St Martinstraße to be inserted into the S-Bahn line while simultaneously reversing to run into the S-Bahn tunnel under central Munich or vice versa, the line between Munich East station and the flying junction between München-Giesing and Fasangarten stations is one of the few in Germany that has traffic running on the left. The service is operated at 20-minute intervals between Maisach and Deisenhofen.
