Ernst Rückert
Anton Ernst Rückert (20 December 1886 – 3 September 1945) was a German stage and film actor. Rückert began his theatre career in 1908 and has appeared on the stage in Bleicherode, Königsberg and Kiel, among others. In 1910 he took up an engagement at the Luisentheatre in Berlin. From 1910 he was a sought-after silent film actor, initially in leading roles. In 1912 he played the first officer of the Titanic in the film '' In Nacht und Eis''. From 1914 to 1917 he served in the military in the First World War. He then continued his film career and continued to receive leading roles and important supporting roles. In the 1930s, Rückert became a character actor in film, and he only rarely received engagements in the theatre. Biography Johann Michael Friedrich Rückert was born 16 May 1788 in Schweinfurt and was the eldest son of a lawyer, Johann Adam Rückert, and his wife, Maria Barbara ( Schwappach). From 1816 to 1817, he worked on the editorial staff of the ''Morgenblatt'' at Stuttgart. Heinrich Rückert (14 February 1823, in Coburg – 11 September 1875, in Breslau) was a German historian and Germanist. He was the son of orientalist and poet Friedrich Rückert (1788–1866). From 1840 to 1844 he studied classical and German philology at the universities of Erlangen, Bonn and Berlin. In 1845 he obtained his habilitation for German history and archaeology at the University of Jena, and later on, relocated to Breslau, where in 1852 he became an associate professor (full professor 1867). In 1852 he was a founding member of the ''Verein für Thüringische Geschichte und Alterthumskunde'' (Society of Thuringian History and Antiquities). Early life Hildegard Charlotte Elisabeth Rückert was born in Charlottenburg, Berlin, the daughter of Fritz Karl Rückert and Luise Wilhelmine Karoline Schucht Rückert. Career Rückert traveled to New York City in 1915 with a troupe of young women ice skaters, to join a show at the Hippodrome. As a solo performer, she starred in a rooftop show at the Golden Glades restaurant in New York, and made appearances on ice skates and rollerskates in Boston, Ottawa, Austin, Saranac Lake, Saratoga Springs, and other North American cities. She skated and practiced diving at Indianola Park in Columbus, Ohio. In 1923, she competed as a speed skater at Lake Placid.
