United States Men's National Artistic Gymnastics Team
The United States men's artistic gymnastics team represents the United States in Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique, FIG international competitions. History The first national team roster was established in 1998. The team has competed at the Olympic Games 21 times, winning seven medals. Selection Gymnasts can be selected for the national team at the United States National Gymnastics Championships, National Championships or the Winter Cup challenge. Southern Illinois Salukis Men's Gymnastics
The Southern Illinois Salukis are the varsity athletic teams representing Southern Illinois University Carbondale. The nickname comes from the Saluki, the Royal Dog of Egypt and the Persian greyhound, which ties into the fact that southern Illinois has had the nickname " Little Egypt" for just under 200 years. The Salukis play their home basketball games at Banterra Center and football games at Saluki Stadium. Southern Illinois University was a member of the Illinois Intercollegiate Athletic Conference from 1913 to 1962. The school is currently a member of the Missouri Valley Conference in most sports. At the 1964 Summer Olympics, fourteen different artistic gymnastics events were contested, eight for men and six for women. All events were held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium in Tokyo from 18 October through 23 October. The scoring in all the events was the same, as for gymnastics events at the previous Olympics. The six best gymnasts on the apparatus in the team competition (by sum of two scores—for compulsory and optional routines) qualified for that apparatus finals. Each of the women's events was judged by five judges. The highest and lowest marks were dropped and an average of three remaining ones constituted the score. The , officially the and commonly known as Tokyo 1964 (), were an international multi-sport event held from 10 to 24 October 1964 in Tokyo, Japan. Tokyo had been awarded the organization of the 1940 Summer Olympics, but this honor was subsequently passed to Helsinki due to Japan's invasion of China, before ultimately being cancelled due to World War II. The New Mexico Lobos are the sport, athletic teams that represent the University of New Mexico, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Albuquerque.
