Russia was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Russian entry was selected internally by the Russian broadcaster Russia-1 (TV channel), Russia-1 (RTR). Tolmachevy Sisters
Anastasiya and Maria Andreyevna Tolmacheva (born 14 January 1997, Kursk), known as the Tolmachevy Sisters (), are identical twin singers and actresses from Kursk, Russia. Aged nine, they won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with their song "Vesenniy jazz". Viktoria Ihorivna "Vika" Petryk (; born 21 May 1997) is a Ukrainian singer and songwriter who represented Ukraine at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008, held in Limassol, Cyprus, with the song "Matrosy" ("Sailors"). She finished in second place. She has been singing since she was four years old. Petryk was a finalist in the Ukrainian national selection to find the Ukrainian representative in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 and came second in the national final with her song "Love Is Lord" behind only Mariya Yaremchuk. Russia was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2000, held on 13 May 2000 at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. Public Russian Television (ORT) returned to the Eurovision Song Contest after a two-year absence following their relegation in 1998. ORT first announced that the Russian entry for the 2000 contest would be chosen through a televised national final, however, they later opted to choose the nation's representative internally by jury. LGBT Rights In Russia
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people in Russia face significant legal and social challenges not experienced by non-LGBTQ residents. Although sexual activity between consenting adults of the same sex is legal, homosexuality is disapproved of by much of the population and pro-LGBTQ advocacy groups are deemed "extremist" and banned. Copenhagen City Hall () is the headquarters of the Copenhagen City Council as well as the Lord mayor of the Copenhagen Municipality, Denmark.
