Russella (also known as The Fabulous Russella) is a British actor, dancer, model, choreographer, singer and comedian often performing in character drag. Career Russella is considered one of 200 cultural icons by '' i-D magazine'' and was considered one of the UK's top 30 talents by ''The London Paper'' Russella studied dance at Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds where he met singer and actress Paloma Faith. Russella later moved to London to live with Faith. Russella appeared in the music video for Faith's debut single Stone Cold Sober. Faith cites Russella as one of the inspirations for her style, a style which is thought of as Dynasty Glam and Alexis Carrington 1980s. Héloïse Adélaïde Letissier (; born 1 June 1988), known professionally as Christine and the Queens and Redcar, or occasionally simply Chris, is a French singer and songwriter. Hackney Empire New Act Of The Year
The NATYS: New Acts of The Year Showcase, previously known as The Hackney Empire New Act of the Year, is an annual industry showcase that promotes new waves of emerging Comedy and Variety acts. It ran at the Hackney Empire Theatre from 1988 until 2010. Since then it has toured round London theatres and performance spaces, playing the Barbican Theatre, Stratford Circus, Bloomsbury Theatre, Leicester Square Theatre and The Bernie Grant Arts Centre. History Roland and Claire Muldoon, of underground theatre group CAST, pioneered "new variety", auditioning many of the acts that became the new wave of comedy and performance in the UK. The process evolved into the New Act of the Year Show produced by Claire and compered by Roland from 1982. In 1986 they took over the Hackney Empire and ran the NATY from 1987, with Linda Smith winning that year's award. ''Riot On Redchurch Street'' is an London-based musical drama directed by Trevor Miller and starring Sam Hazeldine, Alysson Paradis, Jesse Birdsall and Les McKeown. The soundtrack includes four original songs written by Siobhan Fahey and is scheduled for international release, Summer 2012. The term "drag" refers to the performance of exaggerated masculinity, femininity, or other forms of gender expression, usually for entertainment purposes.
