Russell Savage
Russell Irwin Savage (born 27 January 1948) is an Australian politician, who was the Independent (politician), independent member for the Victoria, Australia, Victorian Victorian Legislative Assembly, Legislative Assembly seat of Electoral district of Mildura, Mildura from 1996 until 2006. Prior to entering politics, he was a long-serving police officer in Victoria and England. Early life and police career Savage was born in 1948 in Melbourne, and educated at the Red Hill, Victoria, Red Hill Consolidated School on the Mornington Peninsula. From 1967 to 1969, he was a police officer with the Metropolitan Police in London. Steve Bracks
Stephen Phillip Bracks (born 15 October 1954) is a former Australian politician and was the 44th Premier of Victoria. He first won the electoral district of Williamstown in 1994 for the Labor Party and was party leader and premier from 1999 to 2007. Bracks led Labor in Victoria to minority government at the 1999 election, defeating the incumbent Jeff Kennett Liberal and National coalition government. Labor was returned with a majority government after a landslide win at the 2002 election. Labor was elected for a third term at the 2006 election with a substantial but reduced majority. Peter McLellan
Frederick Peter McLellan (20 October 1942 – 18 September 1999) was an Australian politician. Early life McLellan was born in Melbourne in 1942, attending Holy Name Primary School in East Preston. Career and death From 1956, he worked for Rhodes Motor Company before joining the Army in 1961; he served in the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1967. From 1969 he was a road service patrolman with the Royal Automobile Club of Victoria until he became a self-employed motor mechanic in 1976. A member of the Liberal Party, he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly in 1992 as the member for Frankston East. He served on the Road Safety Committee, but on 24 July 1998 resigned from the Liberal Party to sit as an independent. Electoral district of Frankston East was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. It was created in 1992, mostly out of the old Frankston North. The seat is notable for having decided the 1999 state election, which proved to be the last election in which it was contested. The incumbent, Liberal-turned-independent Peter McLellan, died on election day, forcing a supplementary election a month later. Neither the Coalition nor Labor had won a majority, placing the balance of power in the hands of three independents. They deferred their decision until the supplementary election. In parliamentary politics, balance of power is a situation in which one or more members of a parliamentary or similar chamber can by their uncommitted vote enable a party to attain and remain in minority government. The term may also be applied to the members who hold that position. Susan Margaret Davies (born 1954) is an Australian former politician. She was born in Mirboo North, Victoria, to parents Richard Llewellyn (dec) and Jean Margaret Davies (dec). She attended Leongatha High School (1966–70) and Watsonia High School in 1971, where she completed her Higher School Certificate. She received a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma of Education in 1976 from La Trobe University. She subsequently became a secondary school teacher, and began farming in addition to this in 1989. Davies joined the Labor Party in 1993, as part of the rural protest against Kennett government funding and service cuts, and was the Labor candidate for Gippsland West in the 1996 Victorian state election. Craig Ingram (born 25 March 1965) is a former Australian politician, and was the Independent Member of Parliament for Gippsland East in the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1999 to 2010. In 2012 he was appointed as executive officer for the Amateur Fisherman's Association of the NT (AFANT). Craig Stephen Bildstien (born 20 November 1957) in an Australian journalist and former politician, who was a Liberal Party member for the Victorian Legislative Assembly seat of Mildura from 1988 to 1996.
