Russell Brown (media Commentator)
Russell Brown (born 1962) is a New Zealand media commentator, and the owner of the Public Address community of blogs, and writes the blog ''Hard News''. Early life Brown was born in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. He had a bronchial issues as a child so was frequently home sick from school. He describes himself as a "bright" child who liked to read. Career The origins of ''Hard News'' was the ''Hard News'' radio segment written by Brown from 1991 to 2002 on Auckland student radio station bFM. The text of the radio commentary was circulated on the internet by various means from 1993, and the bulletin officially became a blog with the launch of Public Address in November 2002. Brown's journalism career began in the early 1980s with the Christchurch Star and the music zine Rip It Up. In 1986, he moved to England where he wrote for various publications, mostly covering the music industry, before returning to New Zealand in 1991. Lower Hutt
Lower Hutt ( mi, Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai) is a city in the Wellington Region of New Zealand. Administered by the Hutt City Council, it is one of the four cities that constitute the Wellington metropolitan area. It is New Zealand's sixth most populous city, with a population of . The total area administered by the council is around the lower half of the Hutt Valley and along the eastern shores of Wellington Harbour, of which is urban. It is separated from the city of Wellington by the harbour, and from Upper Hutt by the Taita Gorge. Lower Hutt is unique among New Zealand cities, as the name of the council does not match the name of the city it governs. Special legislation has since 1991 given the council the name "Hutt City Council", while the name of the place itself remains "Lower Hutt City". TVNZ 7
TVNZ 7 was a commercial-free New Zealand 24-hour news and information channel on Freeview digital television platform and on Sky Television from 1 July 2009. It was produced by Television New Zealand, which received Government funding to launch two additional channels. The channel went to air just after 10am on 25 March 2008 with a looped preview reel. The channel was officially launched at noon on 30 March 2008 with a special "kingmaker" political debate held within the Parliament building and featuring most of the elected minor party leaders. The channel went off air at midnight on 30 June 2012 to the Goodnight Kiwi. It featured TVNZ News Now updates every hour from 6am to 11pm, with a specialised 'zone' between 6am and 9am on weekdays, throughout which ten-minute bulletins were aired back-to-back. Three ( mi, Toru), stylized as +HR=E, is a New Zealand nationwide television channel. Launched on 26 November 1989 as TV3, it was New Zealand's first privately owned television channel. The channel currently broadcasts nationally (with regional advertising targeting four markets) in digital free-to-air form via the state-owned Kordia on terrestrial and satellite. Vodafone also carries the channel for their cable subscribers in Wellington and Christchurch. It previously broadcast nationally on analogue television until that was switched off on 1 December 2013.
