Rusokastrenska Reka
The Rusokastrenska reka () is a 65 km long river in eastern Bulgaria that flows into Lake Burgas, which drains into the Black Sea. In 1332 near the river's left banks close to the fortress of Rusokastro the Bulgarian emperor Ivan Alexander defeated the Byzantine army under emperor Andronikos III Palaiologos in the battle of Rusokastro. The river takes its source from a spring on the southern slopes of the Hisar Heights at an altitude of 335 m, some 2.4 km southeast of the town of Karnobat. It flows in southeastern direction through the Burgas Plain in a wide valley covered with farmlands. At the village of Zhelyazovo it bends north to bypass the isolated height of Rusen Kamal (108 m), takes its largest tributary the Hadzhilarska reka, and continues southeast. Hisar Heights
The Hisar Heights () are a hilly ridge in southeastern Bulgaria. Administratively, they lie in Burgas Province. The Hisar Heights are situated between the Burgas Plain to the southeast, the Aytos Field to the east and northeast, the Karnobat Valley to the north and the Sliven Valley to the west. To the northwest the gorge of the Mochuritsa, a left tributary of the river Tundzha, separates them from the Terziyski Ridge of the Balkan Mountains, to the north a low saddle (188 m) links them to the Karnobat Mountain of the Balkan Mountains and to the southwest a chain of small hills connects them to the Bakadzhitsite Heights. The Hisar Heights span 30–35 km in direction west–southwest to east–northeast and reach a width of 7–8 km. The highest point is Hisar (402.8 m), rising some 1.7 km southwest of the town of Karnobat. Mochuritsa
The Mochuritsa () is a river in southern Bulgaria, a left tributary of the river Tundzha of the Maritsa drainage, with a length of 86 km. It is the largest tributary of the Tundzha. Geography The river takes its source at an altitude of 561 m on the southern foothills of the Stidovska planina section of the Balkan Mountains, in the vicinity of the Novo Selo Range. Along its entire length, it flows through flat terrain in a wide valley with a large flood terrace and a small longitudinal slope of 1.4 %. In its upper course, it crosses from west to east the Sungurlare field of the Karnobat Valley, while gradually turning southwards. West of the town of Karnobat, it turns in a southwesterly direction and forms a short gorge between the Terziyski Ridge to the west and the Hisar Heights to the east.
