Rune is a unisex, though predominantly masculine given name derived from the Old Norse word ''rún'', meaning "secret". It is earliest attested in a runestone as runi. It is a common name in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and popular in Belgium, where it ranked in top thirty names for baby boys in 2006 and was the tenth most popular name for boys in 2006 in the Flemish Region of Belgium. ''Rúni'', a variant of the name, was among the ten most popular names given to baby boys in the Faroe Islands, Denmark, in 2007. Runes are the letters in a set of related alphabets known as runic alphabets native to the Germanic peoples. Runes were used to write various Germanic languages (with some exceptions) before they adopted the Latin alphabet, and for specialised purposes thereafter. Rune Gustafsson
Rune Urban Gustafsson (25 August 1933 – 15 June 2012) was a Swedish jazz guitarist and composer. He performed with Arne Domnérus, Jan Johansson, and Zoot Sims among others. Life and career Rune Gustafsson was born in 1933 in Gothenburg. He moved to Stockholm in the 1950s to work with Putte Wickman (Swedisk Jazz Kings, EP, 1957) and Arne Domnérus Radio band and Radio Jazz Group. His first issued recordings were ''Young Guitar'' (Metronome, MLP 15 072, 1961) with Arne Domnérus, Jan Johansson, Jimmy Woode, Bjarne Nerem, Börje Fredriksson and Jan Allan. ''Rune at the Top'' was released in 1969 and included the Norwegian drummer Jon Christensen. He played in the Arne Domnérus duo (Dialog, 1972) and his orchestras, with Jan Johansson, Georg Riedel, Cornelis Vreeswijk. Turbonegro (Turboneger in Norway) is a Norwegian rock band, active from 1989 to 1998 and from 2002 to the present. The band combines glam rock, punk rock, and hard rock into a self-described "deathpunk" musical style. History Early years (1989–1994) Turbonegro formed in Oslo during the winter of 1988–1989. The initial lineup consisted of Thomas Seltzer (a.k.a. Happy-Tom), Vegard Heskestad, Pål Bøttger Kjærnes, Rune Grønn, Pål Erik Carlin and Tor-Kristian "TK" Jenssen. Gustaf Rune Lindström (28 April 1916 – 25 April 1973) was a Swedish screenwriter and actor. He wrote for more than 30 films between 1942 and 1971. Biography Rune Lindström was a scriptwriter, poet, illustrator, director and actor. He had intended to become a priest and began studying theology at Uppsala University, but interrupted his studies when he had an unexpectedly great success with ''The Heavenly Play''. At the play's premiere in 1941 in the university hall in Uppsala, he played the lead role himself. Rune Lindblad
Rune Lindblad (12 May 1923, in Gothenburg – 5 May 1991) was a Swedish composer of musique concrète and electronic music, and visual artist. Career He first began composing in 1953 and composed over 200 works. His first piece, "Party", is considered the first electroacoustic work created in Sweden. For three years he experimented with optics and sound, and produced five works using over 1800 meters of film. On 14 February 1957, Lindblad, Sven-Eric Johansson, and Bruno Epstein put on the first concert of concrète and electronic music in Sweden at the Folkets hus in Gothenburg. The audience responded poorly and demanded refunds, critics referred to the music as "pure torture". Rune Larsen (born 8 August 1948) is a Norwegian journalist, singer, musician, record producer and television presenter. He was born in Bergen. He made his stage debut in 1957, and his television debut in 1964. By that time, he had already played with two bands, The White Shirts and The Black Diamonds, and rejected a contract offer for a solo career. After appearing on television, however, he bumped into Philips Records manager Per W. Kilde at a concert, and was promptly offered a solo contract. Rune Reilly Kölsch or simply Kölsch is a Danish electronic dance musician and DJ. He has worked with artists such as Coldplay, Imogen Heap, London Grammar, Tiga, Sasha and Michael Mayer. Rune Klan (born 15 October 1976 in Silkeborg) is a Danish comedian and magician. He has released an instructional video for magicians called ''Three Pieces of Silver''. Rune Klakegg (born 19 April 1955 in Skien, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz pianist and composer, the older brother of guitarist Bjørn Klakegg, and known from a number of recordings and jazz bands including Oslo 13, Cutting Edge, Fuzzy Logic, Out to Lunch and Søyr.
