Rubén Ortiz Torres
Rubén Ortiz Torres (born February 27, 1964) is a Mexican photographer, painter, sculptor, film and video producer. Biography He was the subject of the mid-career survey show ''Desmothernismo'' at the Huntington Beach Art Center, a show which toured to the Museo Universitario de Ciencias y Arte in Mexico City. His low-rider/video installation "Alien Toy" was shown as part of the InSite show in San Diego in 1997 then in 1998 at Track 16 in Los Angeles. He co-directed the feature-length experimental documentary ''Frontierland'' with Jesse Lerner in 1995. Ortiz has been a Faculty Member in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of California, San Diego. Ortiz publishes a blog entitled ''For The Record''. He received his MFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 1992. Carnegie Art Museum (Oxnard, California)
The Carnegie Art Museum is a public art museum owned by the City of Oxnard, California in the building originally occupied by the Oxnard Public Library. The Neo-Classical building, located adjacent to Oxnard's Plaza Park, opened in 1907 as the Oxnard Public Library and was converted into an art museum in 1986. In July 1971, it became the first building in Ventura County and the first Carnegie library in California to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Construction and early history In late 1904 Oxnard's first mayor, Richard B. Haydock, wrote a letter to Andrew Carnegie soliciting a donation to build a library in Oxnard. Museo De La Estampa
The Museo de la Estampa (Museum of Graphic Arts) is a museum in Mexico City, dedicated to the history, preservation and promotion of Mexican graphic arts. The word “estampa” means works in the various printmaking techniques which have the quality of being reproducible and include seals, woodcuts, lithography and others. The museum was created in 1986 and located in a 19th-century Neoclassical building located in the Plaza de Santa Veracruz in the historic center of the city. This building was remodeled both to house the museum and to conserve its original look. The building houses both a permanent and multiple temporary exhibits.
