Royal Commission for al-Ula (RCU; ) is a Saudi commission established in July 2017 to preserve and develop the 2,000-year-old archaeological and historical site of al-Ula north-western Saudi Arabia. Importance of al-Ula Al-Ula is the home of The Archaeological Site of Hegra ( Madâin Sâlih), the largest conserved site of the civilization of the Nabataeans which is the first UNESCO World Heritage property to be inscribed in Saudi Arabia. Al-Ula Football Club is a football club based in al-Ula, Saudi Arabia. The club competes in the Saudi Second Division League, the third tier of the Saudi football league system. History The roots of the foundation of Al-Ula FC go back to 1978 when a friendly match was held between two amateur sides in the city. The match was attended by the governor of Medina Province at the time Prince Abdul Muhsin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Following the match's success, the two teams' leaders agreed to merge both clubs into one that would represent the governorate.
