Veterinary pathologists are veterinarians who specialize in the diagnosis of diseases through the examination of animal tissue and body fluids. Like medical pathology, veterinary pathology is divided into two branches, anatomical pathology and clinical pathology. Sir Roderick MacSween
Sir Roderick Norman McIver MacSween (2 February 1935 – 11 December 2015) was a Scottish pathologist, professor of pathology at University of Glasgow, 1984 to 1999. MacSween was a past President of the Royal College of Pathologists (1996–99), a member of the General Medical Council (1998-2001) and was knighted for services to medicine and to pathology in 2000. He was a chairman of Tenovus Scotland, which annually award the Sir Roddy MacSween prize and medal to a medical student of the University of Glasgow for outstanding performance in pathology. Sir John Lilleyman
Sir John Stuart Lilleyman (born 9 July 1945) is a British paediatric haematologist. His specialization is childhood leukemia and idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. Career Lilleyman contributed to the testing of leukemia treatment methods and conducted research on "thiopurine metabolism" in children with leukemia. He was president of the Royal College of Pathologists during the Alder Hey organs scandal. During that time, he was vice-chairman of the Academy of the Medical Royal Colleges. In 2004, he became medical director of the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA). James Underwood (pathologist)
Sir James Cresseé Elphinstone Underwood FMedSci (born 11 April 1942) is a British pathologist who was awarded a knighthood for services to medicine in the 2005 New Year honours list. Early life and education Underwood was born at Walsall in 1942, where his father, John Underwood, was a general practitioner. The family settled in Cheltenham in 1948. He was educated at Downside School, Somerset. From 1960-1965 he was a medical student at St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College, and a house doctor at St Stephen's Hospital, Chelsea. Joanne Elizabeth Martin is National Specialty Advisor for Pathology to NHSEngland and Improvement, and Professor of Pathology at Queen Mary University of London.
