Roy Carter (oboist)
Roy Carter is an English oboist, and musician. Early career Carter began playing the oboe at the age of 10. He won scholarships to study with Margaret Eliot at the Royal Academy of Music (at 12) and later under Terence MacDonagh at the Royal College of Music (at 16), where he won the Joy Boughton Memorial Prize in only his second year of study. Musical career His orchestral career began with the Philharmonia Orchestra as Co-Principal Oboe and then the English National Opera Orchestra as Principal Oboe. He joined the London Symphony Orchestra as Co-Principal Oboe in 1986 and was appointed to Principal Oboe in 1988, staying for almost twenty years before deciding to move to the Northern Sinfonia as Principal Oboe in late 2005. He moved to Trinidad and Tobago in 2009 as principal oboist, professor of oboe, and overseer of performance excellence at the University of Trinidad and Tobago and the related orchestra. Roy Carter (footballer)
Roy William Carter (born 19 February 1954 in Torpoint) is a former professional footballer. Carter played for Falmouth Town, and he then joined Hereford United in April 1975. He made his league debut the same season and went on to play 71 league games, scoring 9 times. He transferred to Swindon Town for a £22,000 fee in December 1977 and he went on to make 236 senior appearances for the club, scoring 39 goals. After loan spells with Torquay United and Bristol Rovers he moved permanently to Torquay in February 1983. He later joined Newport County and played 152 league games, scoring 21 times before moving to Exeter City Exeter City Football Club is a professional association football club based in Exeter, Devon, England. Roy Carter is an English musician, songwriter and music producer. He has written or co-written hits for Instant Funk, Central Line, Animal Nightlife, David Grant, and Jermaine Stewart. He has also been a member of groups, Clem Curtis & The Foundations, Heatwave, Central Line and Danny D. & Collusion. In later years he ran a television music production company. Background Carter was a member of Clem Curtis & The Foundations, and along with fellow members David Christopher George, Valentine Pascal, Derek Lewis, and John Lumley-Savile was backing Clem Curtis. Gargoyle Games
Gargoyle Games was a British software company founded in 1983 by Roy Carter and Greg Follis in order to publish their first game, ''Ad Astra''. They generally specialized in games for the ZX Spectrum even though the company was originally named with the intention of publishing games for Dragon 32/64, Dragon computers. They later created a new label specifically for arcade-style games, Faster Than Light (software publisher), Faster Than Light (FTL), as well as developing titles for Elite Systems. Two of Gargoyle's releases, ''Marsport'' and ''Heavy on the Magick'', were intended to be the first in a series of games but the planned sequels were never released. ''Marsport'' is often considered an unofficial companion to ''Tir Na Nog (video game), Tir Na Nog'' and ''Dun Darach'' due to its similar gameplay.
