Rosa Sensat
Rosa Sensat i Vilà (17 June 1873 – 1 October 1961) was a Spanish teacher. She contributed to the development of the Catalan public schools during the first third of the 20th century. Biography She undertook education studies in Barcelona and in Madrid's ''Escuela Central de Magisterio'' (''Central Education Studies School''). Afterwards she studied at Geneva's Institut Rousseau and other European schools, where she learnt about new educational trends. In 1900, she passed the public examinations so to become a housework headmistress in Alacant. However, she married David Ferrer in 1903, and the couple moved to Barcelona. The year after, their first daughter, Àngels Ferrer i Sensat was born. Sensat spread the new educational trends, and in 1914 she became the first director of the girls' section of Barcelona's Escola de Bosc. El Masnou
; ) is a municipality in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the coast between Montgat and Premià de Mar, to the north-east of the city of Barcelona, in the ''comarca'' (county) of el Maresme. The town is both a tourist centre and a dormitory town in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area. Maria Montessori
Maria Tecla Artemisia Montessori ( ; ; 31 August 1870 – 6 May 1952) was an Italians, Italian physician and educator best known for her philosophy of education (the Montessori method) and her writing on scientific pedagogy. At an early age, Montessori enrolled in classes at an all-boys technical school, with hopes of becoming an engineer. She soon had a change of heart and began medical school at the Sapienza University of Rome, becoming one of the first women to attend medical school in Italy; she graduated with honors in 1896. The Commonwealth of Catalonia (, ) was a deliberative assembly made up of the councillors of the four provinces of Catalonia. Maresme
Maresme () is a ''comarca'' (county) in the Barcelona region in Catalonia, located along the Mediterranean coast, between the ''comarques'' of Barcelonès (at the Southwest) and Selva (at the Northeast), and also bordering with Vallès Oriental (at the west). Its capital and largest city is Mataró (pop. 119,035 in 2007).
