Roper is a town in Washington County, North Carolina, United States. The population was at the Census. It was known as Lee's Mill (named for Thomas Lee) until 1890, when the John L. Roper River
The Roper River is a large perennial river located in the Katherine region of the Northern Territory of Australia. Location and features Formed by the confluence of the Waterhouse River and Roper Creek, the Roper River rises east of Mataranka in the Elsey National Park and flows generally east for over to meet the sea in Limmen Bight on the Gulf of Carpentaria. The river is joined by fifteen tributaries, including the Chambers, Strangways, Jalboi, Hodgson and the Wilton Rivers. The river descends over its course and has a catchment area of , which is one of the largest river catchment areas in the Northern Territory. Roper Resonance
The Roper resonance, also known as P11(1440) or N(1440)1/2+, is an unstable nucleon resonance with a mass of about 1,440 MeV/c2 and with a relatively wide full Breit-Wigner width Γ ≈ 300 MeV/c2. It contains three quarks (up (u) or down (d)) with total spin ''J'' = 1/2 and total isospin ''I'' = 1/2. In the quark model it is considered to be a radially excited three-quark state with radial quantum number ''N'' = 2 and positive parity. The Roper Resonance has been a subject of many studies because its mass is actually lower than three-quark states with radial quantum number ''N'' = 1. Only in the late 2000s was the lower-than-expected mass explained by theoretical calculations, revealing a quark core shielded by a dense cloud of mesons. Roper Technologies, Inc. (formerly Roper Industries, Inc.) is an American industrial conglomerate based in Sarasota, Florida. History George D. Roper founded the company in 1890, and it was primarily focused on the manufacturing of home appliances, pumps, and other industrial products. He had part ownership of the Van Wie Gas Stove Company of Cleveland, Ohio. The Van Wie plant moved to Rockford, Illinois and passed into the hands trustees in the early 1890s. George D. Roper became the sole owner of the Van Wie Gas Stove company after the company's debts had been paid off on September 1, 1894. 10 days later, a fire destroyed the facility. Cowboy boots are a specific style of riding boot, historically worn by cowboys. Will Rogers High School
Will Rogers Middle and High School, located at 3909 E. 5th Place in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was built by Tulsa Public Schools in 1939 using WPA workers and designed by Joseph R. Koberling, Jr. and Leon B. Senter. It was named for the humorist Will Rogers, who died in 1935, along with Wiley Post in a plane crash. Significant additions were made to the original structure in 1949 and 1964. The alterations were in keeping with the original design and did not detract from the school's architectural or historical significance.
