Rooster Heart
''Rooster Heart'' (French: ''Coeur de coq'') is a 1946 French comedy film directed by Maurice Cloche and starring Fernandel, Gisèle Alcee and Jean Témerson.Quinlan p.178 The film's sets were designed by Robert Giordani. Plot A man is too shy to ask a girl out and decides to kill himself. While lying in the road he is rescued by a Doctor who tries to cure him by implanting the heart of a rooster into him, something which suddenly makes him irresistible to women. Maurice Cloche
Maurice Cloche (17 June 1907, Commercy, Meuse – 23 March 1990, Bordeaux, France) was a French film director, screenwriter, photographer and film producer. Best known for his Oscar-winning film '' Monsieur Vincent'' (1947) he won a 1948 Special Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. '' Monsieur Vincent,'' a dramatization of the life of St. Vincent de Paul that starred Pierre Fresnay, won the Academy Award in 1947 for best foreign film. It also was honored as the best film in France that year. Mr. Cloche, whose career spanned more than a half-century, also made spy thrillers and films with religious and social themes. His best-known films include ''La Cage aux Oiseaux'' (''The Bird Cage''); ''Le Docteur Laennec,'' the story of the inventor of the stethoscope; ''Ne de Pere Inconnu'' (''Father Unknown'') and ''La Cage aux Filles (''The Girl Cage''). Jacques Mikaël Der Mikaëlian better known as Jacques Hélian (born in Paris, 7 June 1912 - died 29 June 1986), was a famous French orchestra conductor for French music-hall. Biography Born of an Armenian father (descendant of Armenian bourgeoisie) and a French mother, at 16 he entered school of dentistry, but left his studies to pursue his love of music studying saxophone with Raymond Legrand (Legrand married Jacques's sister Marcelle). He commenced his musical career playing saxo alto, saxo baryton and clarinet in Roland Dorsay's orchestra and later in Jo Bouillon's and in Ray Ventura's orchestra. He also performed in French live radio broadcasts releasing a number of recordings before World War II.
