George Roop
George H. Roop (born November 10, 1981) is a retired mixed martial artist. He was a cast member of Spike TV's ''The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir'', winning his preliminary and first round fights. He fought as a Bantamweight (MMA), bantamweight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, UFC and most recently fought under the Road FC banner. The Roop
The Roop (stylised in all caps) are a Lithuanian pop rock band from Vilnius. Formed in 2014, the group consists of lead vocalist Vaidotas Valiukevičius, percussionist Robertas Baranauskas and guitarist Mantas Banišauskas. The group has released three albums – ''To Whom It May Concern'' in 2015, ''Ghosts'' in 2017 and ''Concrete Flower'' in 2022 – as well as the extended play ''Yes, I Do'' in 2018. They were due to represent Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with their song " On Fire" before the contest was cancelled. Roopkuvarba Kanwar ( c. 1969 – 4 September 1987) was a teenaged Hindu Rajput widow in India who was burned on her husband's funeral pyre in an act of sati at Deorala village of Sikar district in Rajasthan, India. At the time, she was 18 years old and had been married for eight months to Maal Singh Shekhawat, who had died a day earlier at age 24, and had no children. The crowd which witnessed her death approved of the act and regarded it as willing, although some contemporary news reports say she was coerced or too mentally unhealthy to be culpable. Her death prompted public debate in India over the practice of sati. Roop Kanwar's death led to changes in both state and national laws to prevent sati and to prohibit its glorification. Roop Singh Bais (8 September 1908 – 16 December 1977) was an Indian Field Hockey, hockey player. He was part of the India men's national field hockey team, Indian field hockey team, which won gold medals for India at the 1932 and 1936 Olympic Games. He was the younger brother of Dhyan Chand. Roop's Mill is a historic grist mill complex located near Westminster, Carroll County, Maryland. The complex includes a three-story, brick and stone mill, dating from about 1795 and rebuilt in 1816; the David Roop House, an 1825 stone dwelling; a log cooper's shed; an early two-part bank barn; numerous farm sheds; a late-19th century iron suspension bridge; and a bank barn dated to the 1860s. James Clawson Roop (October 3, 1888 – January 23, 1972) was director of the United States Bureau of the Budget (now the Office of Management and Budget) from August 15, 1929, to March 3, 1933, during the administration of President Herbert Hoover.
