Rony Martias (born August 4, 1980 in Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe) is a French road bicycle racer for the UC Cholet 49 amateur team. Martias previously competed as a professional between 2003 and 2013, for the and squads. After folded at the end of the 2013 season, Martias returned to the amateur ranks with UC Cholet 49. Basse-Terre
Basse-Terre (, ; ; ) is a communes of the Guadeloupe department, commune in the France, French overseas departments and regions of France, overseas department of Guadeloupe, in the Lesser Antilles. It is also the ''prefectures in France, prefecture'' (capital city) of Guadeloupe. The city of Basse-Terre is located on Guadeloupe#Geography, Basse-Terre Island, the western half of Guadeloupe. 2005 Giro D'Italia
The 2005 Giro d'Italia was the 88th edition of the Giro d'Italia, one of cycling's Grand Tour (cycling), Grand Tours. It began in Reggio Calabria with a prologue. The race came to a close with a mass-start road stage that stretched from Albese con Cassano to Milan. Twenty two teams entered the race that was won by the Italian Paolo Savoldelli of the team. Second and third were the Italian Gilberto Simoni and Venezuelan José Rujano. Five riders led the race over eight occasions before Savoldelli gained the lead after the Giro's thirteenth stage. The Giro was first led by Australian Brett Lancaster, who won the race's opening prologue. He lost the lead the next day to Paolo Bettini, who gained the race lead three separate times before Savoldelli took over.
