Ron Thomson MBE (1929 – February 2004) was a Scottish journalist. Thomson reported for local newspapers including ''Dundee Courier'', ''Daily Herald'', ''Sunday Mail'' and ''Sunday Express''. He was also a reporter and presenter for Grampian Television's regional news programmes (''News and Views'', ''Grampian Today'', ''North Tonight ''North Tonight'' is a Scottish nightly regional news programme covering the North of Scotland, produced by STV North (formerly Grampian Television). History During the late 1960s and 1970s, Grampian's regional news service consisted of daily 10 ...'') for over 25 years, latterly as a correspondent at Grampian's Dundee newsroom covering Tayside and North East Fife. Ronald Ferguson Thomson
Sir Ronald Ferguson Thomson (26 June 1830 – 15 November 1888) was a British diplomat. Thomson spent his entire professional life working for the British Foreign Office in Tehran. He was appointed Secretary of Legation (third class) on 7 September 1848 and was promoted on 5 January 1852 to attaché. In 1879 he succeeded his elder brother William Taylour Thomson in the office of Envoy Extraordinary and Ministers Plenipotentiary to Persia. During his tenure, the Sheikh Ubeydullah uprising took place.
