Ron Thompson (January 31, 1941 – April 13, 2024) was an American actor, singer-songwriter and dancer. Life and career Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Thompson was perhaps best known for his dual lead roles in Ralph Bakshi, Ralph Bakshi's critically acclaimed rotoscoping, rotoscope film ''American Pop'' and the 1970s TV series ''Baretta'' in the role of Detective Nopke. Thompson's first film appearance was as an uncredited extra in the 1960 Jerry Lewis film ''The Bellboy''. Thompson had a brief career as a rock singer in the 1960s and wrote and recorded a number of singles as Ronnie Thompson under the guidance of his mentor and friend, rockabilly singer Ersel Hickey. Thompson originated the role of Shanty Mulligan in the 1969 Pulitzer Prize winning play ''No Place to Be Somebody'' by Charles Gordone. Ron Thompson (blues Guitarist)
Ron Thompson (July 5, 1953 – February 15, 2020) was an American electric blues and blues rock guitarist, singer and songwriter. Thompson released nine albums after 1983 on labels including Blind Pig. He worked with Little Joe Blue, John Lee Hooker, Lowell Fulson, Etta James and Big Mama Thornton. Thompson commented on his preferred style, "blues is like a medicine, or religion to me, it'll cleanse your soul". Meanwhile, Mick Fleetwood stated, "Ron Thompson is my favorite guitarist". Life and career Thompson was born in Oakland, California, United States, and had mastered basic guitar and slide guitar techniques by his mid-teens. Ronald Thompson (20 January 1932 – 5 June 2020) was an English professional footballer who played as a wing half. Career Born in Carlisle, Thompson played for Raffles Rovers and Carlisle United. Thompson, nicknamed "Ginger", is Carlisle's record-holder for number of appearances in the Football League by an outfield player, making 406 appearances in all competitions. He spent his early career with the club as a semi-professional, combining his playing career with a job at an engineering company. After leaving Carlisle in 1964 after suffering an achilles injury, he later played for Gretna and Penrith. Along with former Carlisle United teammate George Walker, he set up Carlisle City in 1975. Ronald Thompson (15 November 1917 – 16 May 2006) was an Australian trade unionist and politician who was a member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1959 to 1980. He served as a minister in the government of John Tonkin. Thompson was born in Fremantle to Margaret Alice (née Mewburn) and Samuel Thompson. He left school at the age of 14, and subsequently worked as a wool classer at the Fremantle Woolstores. He was later employed as a shopkeeper and waterside worker, and held various positions in the local branch of the Waterside Workers' Federation (WWF). Thompson entered parliament at a 1959 Legislative Council by-election for West Province, caused by the death of Gilbert Fraser.
