Ronald David Christie is a retired Australian public servant. Christie commenced his career as cadet engineer with the Department of Railways New South Wales, becoming general manager of operations of the Public Transport Commission in August 1979, then deputy chief executive of the State Rail Authority in July 1980. He later served as director-general of the Department of Public Works, head of the Roads & Traffic Authority, head of transport for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, and Co-ordinator General of the state's rail industry before retiring in June 2001. Public Transport Commission
The Public Transport Commission (PTC) was an agency of the Government of New South Wales responsible for the provision of rail, bus and ferry services in New South Wales, Australia from October 1972 until June 1980. Upon dissolution, responsibility for rail services transferred to the State Rail Authority and responsibility for bus and ferry services to the Urban Transit Authority. The PTC, composed of five Commissioners appointed by the Governor of New South Wales, was accountable to the Minister for Transport. State Rail Authority
The State Rail Authority, a former statutory authority of the Government of New South Wales, operated and maintained railways in the Australian state of New South Wales from July 1980 until December 2003. History The ''Transport Authorities Act 1980'' separated the functions of the Public Transport Commission (formerly responsible for all public transport) and established the State Rail Authority. The State Rail Authority assumed responsibility for trains, while the Urban Transit Authority responsibility for buses and ferries. Overview The magazine's publisher is the Australian Railway Historical Society (ARHS), NSW Division. The first issue was published in March 1963 under the name ''New South Wales Digest'' and regular publication commenced with the May 1963 edition. It was renamed in January 1983. In January 1985 it changed paper size from SRA5 to A4. Sydney Bus Museum (formerly the Sydney Bus and Truck Museum) is a not-for-profit transportation museum and education centre for public benefit located in the suburb of Leichhardt, in Sydney, Australia. The museum is open to the public on the first and third Sunday of each month. The museum restores, maintains, displays and operates over 70 buses from the 1920s to 2000's.
