''Romeo's Distress'' is a 2017 American independent, gothic, neo-noir, horror film and the directorial debut of Jeff Frumess. It was filmed on location in Westchester, NY. The film had its world premiere at the Macabre Faire Film Festival in January 2017. The film takes its name from the Christian Death song on the album '' Only Theatre of Pain'', written by Rozz Williams and Rikk Agnew. Jeff Frumess
Jeff Frumess is an American regional filmmaker, writer, and podcaster from Westchester, NY. Career Frumess began filmmaking after watching ''The Snowball Effect'' — a documentary about the production of Kevin Smith's first feature film, ''Clerks''. Beginning with short films, then live music production and documentary work, Frumess made a shift into narrative feature films beginning with ''Romeo's Distress''. A second feature, ''Gouge Away'', followed. Returning home to New York, Frumess began working on a documentary project, ''They Came from Lodi,'' recording the history of the punk band The Misfits told by those who surrounded the band, as well as those who were influenced by the original 1977-1983 lineup. Since 2021, the project is incomplete. From 2011 to 2017, Frumess and Sal Bee from Sardonica ran YouTube series called ''Rock and Roll Cooking with Sal Bee''. Rozz Williams
Rozz Williams (born Roger Alan Painter; November 6, 1963 – April 1, 1998) was an American singer and songwriter known for his work with the bands Christian Death, Shadow Project (with musician Eva O), and the industrial project Premature Ejaculation. Christian Death is cited by some as a pioneer of the American gothic rock scene as well as deathrock, and is considered to be one of the most influential figures of the scene. However, Williams disliked the "goth" label and actively worked to shed it during the 1980s and 1990s by focusing on punk rock, hard rock, cabaret, and spoken word music. Williams was also involved with his groups Daucus Karota, Heltir, EXP, Bloodflag, and his own version of Christian Death (Christian Death featuring Rozz Williams), along with recording a handful of solo albums. Rikk Agnew
Richard Francis "Rikk" Agnew Jr. (born December 9, 1958) is an American musician with a career spanning more than 40 years. A multi-instrumentalist, he has previously been a member of some of the most influential bands of the Orange County hardcore punk genre, as well as the influential deathrock band Christian Death. During his years with the Adolescents, Agnew became known as one of the best guitarists in the Southern California hardcore punk scene. Agnew has also pursued a solo career and released his debut studio album, ''All by Myself'', in 1982. He has since released two more solo albums, ''Emotional Vomit'' in 1990 and ''Turtle'' in 1992. Christian Death
Christian Death is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles County, California, in 1979 by Rozz Williams. With major line-up changes over the years, Christian Death has retained "a relentlessly confrontational stand against organized religion and conventional morality". Williams was eventually joined by guitarist Rikk Agnew of the band Adolescents, James McGearty on bass guitar and George Belanger on drums.
