Augustów
Augustów is a town in north-eastern Poland. It lies on the Netta River and the Augustów Canal. It is the seat of Augustów County and of Gmina Augustów in the Podlaskie Voivodeship. Augustów has an area of , and as of June 2022 it has a population of 29,305. In 1970, Augustów became officially recognized as a health and relaxation (psychology), relaxation resort. Adrian Joseph Galbas, S.A.C. (born 26 January 1968) is a Polish prelate of the Catholic Church who has been Metropolitan Archbishop of Warsaw since December 2024. Romuald Kamiński (born 7 February 1955, Janówka, Poland) is a Polish Roman Catholic priest who has served as bishop of Warszawa-Praga since 2017. The Society of the Divine Word (), abbreviated SVD and popularly called the Verbites or the Divine Word Missionaries, and sometimes the Steyler Missionaries, is a Catholic clerical religious congregation of Pontifical Right for men. Edward Eugeniusz Samsel (2 January 1940 – 17 January 2003) was a Roman Catholic bishop of the Diocese of Ełk from 2000 until his death in 2003. Biography Samsel was born in Myszyniec to Jan and Walerian Samsel (). He received his first communion on 9 January 1949 and received the sacrament of confirmation from Aleksander Mościcki, auxiliary bishop of Łomża.
