The Roman Catholic Diocese of Caxias do Sul () is a diocese located in the city of Caxias do Sul in the ecclesiastical province of Porto Alegre in Brazil. The Archdiocese of Porto Alegre () is a Latin-Rite Metropolitan Archbishopric of the Roman Catholic Church in Rio Grande do Sul state, Brazil. The Archdiocese's mother church and Metropolitan seat of its Archbishop is the Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lady Mother of God in Porto Alegre. Nei Paulo Moretto
Nei Paulo Moretto (25 May 1936 – 6 April 2023) was a Brazilian Roman Catholic prelate. He served as bishop of Cruz Alta (1972–1976), coadjutor bishop (1976–1983) and bishop of Caxias do Sul (1983–2011). Early life and education Moretto was born in Caxias do Sul on 25 May 1936, to Isidoro Domingos Moretto and Paulina Soldatelli, the eldest son of a family of 8 siblings. He did his primary studies at the Henrique Emílio Mayer School. In 1947 he went on to study at the Nossa Senhora Aparecida Seminary, in Caxias do Sul, where he remained until 1953, and later graduated in Philosophy and Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University. On 2 July 1961 he received his priestly ordination from Bishop Faustino Tissot. Leomar Antônio Brustolin (born 15 August 1967) is a Brazilian prelate of the Catholic Church who has been archbishop of Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Santa Maria, Santa Maria since 2021. He was auxiliary bishop of Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Porto Alegre, Porto Alegre from 2015 to 2021. Biography Leomar Antônio Brustolin was born in Caxias do Sul on 15 August 1967. He studied at the University of Caxias do Sul and at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul. He was ordained a priest on 20 December 1992. From 1992 to 2001 he was parish vicar of Saint Teresa, at the diocesan cathedral of Caxias do Sul. From 1993 to 2014, he was director of the theology course for the laity of the dioceses of Caxias do Sur.
