The Roman Catholic Metropolitan Archdiocese of Aracaju () is a Latin Metropolitan archdiocese in the State of Sergipe, northeastern Brazil. Its cathedral archiepiscopal see is Our Lady of the Conception Cathedral (''Catedral Metropolitana Nossa Senhora da Conceiçao''), dedicated to Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, in the city of Aracaju. Two World Heritage Sites are owned by the Archdiocese in São Cristóvão, Sergipe: the Misericórdia Hospital and Church (''Igreja de Santa Casa de Misericórdia'') and the Church and Convent of Santa Cruz, also known as the Church and Convent of Saint Francis. Luciano José Cabral Duarte
Luciano José Cabral Duarte (January 21, 1925 – May 29, 2018) was a Brazilian prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as auxiliary bishop of Aracajú from 1966 till 1971, when he became archbishop of Aracajú. He resigned in 1998 and was succeeded by José Palmeira Lessa. He was professor of philosophy and one of the founders at the Federal University of Sergipe. Life Luciano José Cabral Duarte was the son of José de Góes Duarte and Célia Cabral. He was baptized in the Diocesan Cathedral, in Aracaju, on February 7, 1925. He studied at the School of Apprentice Crafts, then Technical School, now IFS, before joining the Minor Seminary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at the age of 11. He was always the first in the class. Prusias ad Hypium () was a city in ancient Bithynia, and afterwards in the late Roman province of Honorias. In the 4th century it became a bishopric that was a suffragan of Claudiopolis in Honoriade. Before its conquest by King Prusias I of Bithynia, it was named Cierus or Kieros () and belonged to the Heraclea Pontica. Photius writes that it was called Kieros, after the river which flows by it.
