"Rollin' Home" is a single released by the British rock band Status Quo in 1986 (not to be confused with the earlier "Rolling Home", from the album ''Blue for You''). It was included on the album '' In the Army Now''. It was written by John David (bass player with the Dave Edmunds' band) and produced by Dave Edmunds. The 7 inch was also produced as a Q-shaped picture disc. The song was reprised, in 2014, for the band's thirty-first studio album '' Aquostic (Stripped Bare)''. Status Quo (band)
Status Quo are a British rock band. The group originated in London and was founded in 1962 by Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster while they were still schoolboys. After a number of name and lineup changes, which included the introduction of John Coghlan (drummer), John Coghlan in 1963 and Rick Parfitt in 1967, the band became The Status Quo in 1967 and Status Quo in 1969. As of 2022, the group have been active for 60 consecutive years (despite announcing a breakup in 1984, they played Live Aid the following year and resumed normal activities in 1986). They have had over 60 chart hits in the UK – more than any other band – including "Pictures of Matchstick Men" (their first charting song), "Caroline (Status Quo song), Caroline" (their first top 5 hit), and "Down Down" (their only No. 1 hit). John David (musician)
John David Williams (born 19 January 1946 in Cardiff, Wales) is a Welsh bassist and songwriter known equally for his work with Dave Edmunds and for his songwriting. Biography He began his musical career playing drums in his father's dance band Avalon. By 1968 he was playing bass guitar and sang backing vocals in Edmunds' first major group, Love Sculpture, best remembered for their 1968 top ten hit single " Sabre Dance". At that time he used the name John Williams. After Love Sculpture split in 1970 he concentrated on studio and session work, songwriting and engineering, as well as collaborating with Edmunds on his number one single " I Hear You Knocking", playing bass, piano, and percussion. In 1975, David played bass guitar and did some backing vocals on Andy Fairweather Low's album, '' La Booga Rooga''. David William Edmunds (born 15 April 1944) is a Welsh retired singer, songwriter, guitarist and record producer. Although he is mainly associated with Pub rock (United Kingdom), pub rock and New wave music, new wave, having many hit record, hits in the 1970s and early 1980s, his natural leaning has always been towards 1950s-style rock and roll and rockabilly. Career Early bands Edmunds was born in Cardiff, Wales. As a ten-year-old, he first played in 1954 with a band called the Edmunds Bros Duo with his older brother Geoff (born 5 December 1939, Cardiff); this was a piano duo. The Wanderer (Dion Song)
"The Wanderer" is a song written by Ernie Maresca and originally recorded by Dion, released on his 1961 album, '' Runaround Sue''. The song, with a 12-bar blues-base verse and an eight-bar bridge, tells the story of a travelling man and his many loves. The song is ranked number 243 on the ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. History Maresca had co-written Dion's previous number-one hit, " Runaround Sue", but originally intended "The Wanderer" to be recorded by another group, Nino and the Ebb Tides. Blue For You
''Blue for You'' is the ninth studio album by English rock band Status Quo. It was released in March 1976, and is the last album until 1980's '' Just Supposin''' that the band produced themselves. Rick Parfitt's "Rain", the first single from the album, reached number 7 in the UK Singles Chart after its release in February 1976. Its B-side was the non-album track "You Lost the Love", written by Francis Rossi and Bob Young. The album was released the following month. It entered the UK Albums Chart at number 1 and stayed there for three weeks, making it one of their most successful albums. In the US, the album was self-titled ''Status Quo'' and had a different album cover. An edited version of Parfitt and Young's "Mystery Song", released in July that year, was the second single from the album, and peaked at number 11 a few months later. Roundhouse (venue)
The Roundhouse is a performing arts and concert venue at the Grade II* listed former Railway roundhouse, railway engine shed in Chalk Farm, London, England. The building was erected in 1846–1847 by the London & North Western Railway as a Railway roundhouse, roundhouse, a circular building containing a railway turntable, but was used for that purpose for only about a decade. After being used as a warehouse for a number of years, the building fell into disuse just before World War II. It was first made a listed building in 1954. It reopened after 25 years, in 1964, as a performing arts venue, when the playwright Arnold Wesker established the Centre 42 Theatre Company and adapted the building as a theatre.
