Rohit Sharma (born 30 April 1987) is an Indian Cricket, international cricketer and the Captain (cricket), captain of the India national cricket team, national team in One Day International, ODIs. He is also a former captain in Tests and T20Is. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest T20I Batting order (cricket), opening batters of all time. He is a right-handed batsman who plays for Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League and for Mumbai cricket team, Mumbai in domestic cricket. After the team's victory at the 2024 Men's T20 World Cup, he announced his retirement from T20Is. Rohit Sharma (born 1955) is an Indian politician from West Bengal. He is a two time member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Kurseong Assembly constituency in Darjeeling district. He won the 2011 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election representing the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha and retained the seat in the 2016 election. Early life and education Sharma is from Kurseong, Darjeeling district, West Bengal. He is the son of late Bal Prasad Sharma. He completed his PhD in economics on Trade Union Movement in the tea gardens of Darjeeling Hills at North Bengal University in 2005.
