Sir Roger William Wright Order of the British Empire, CBE (born 15 August 1956) is an English arts administrator. Roger Wright was CEO of Britten Pears Arts until the end of July 2024 when he left the role after 10 years. Biography Wright was born in Manchester, where he was educated at Chetham's School of Music, and played the cello as a youth. He studied music at Royal Holloway College, University of London, and earned a B.Mus. in 1977. On graduation, he took a sabbatical year, 1977–78, as the elected President of the Student Union. From 1978 to 1986, Wright worked at the British Music Information Centre (BMIC), as librarian and manager, then as director. He served as a senior producer for the BBC Symphony Orchestra from 1986 to 1989. He became the artistic administrator of The Cleveland Orchestra in 1989. Roger Robinson "Trey" Wright III (born April 1, 1974Harris County, Texasbirths database/ref>) is an American classical concert pianist. He is also a ''Scrabble'' player who won the United States National Scrabble Championship in 2004. Early life and musical training Roger Wright was born in Houston, Texas, the son of Roger Wright, Jr., and Christy (Schmidt) Wright. He began piano study at age 12. During high school he studied with Houston teacher John Weems. At 18 Wright made his concerto debut with the Houston Symphony Orchestra. Wright entered the piano program at the University of Houston, where he continued his studies with Nancy Weems, Ruth Tomfohrde, Abbey Simon, and Horacio Gutiérrez, and earned his Bachelor of Music degree. Roger Wright (born 8 January 1945) is a New Zealand former motorcycle speedway rider. He earned 8 caps for the New Zealand national speedway team. Career Wright began riding in 1963 at the age of 19 at the Templeton track in Christchurch. His first success was winning the South Island Championship during the 1966-1967 season.
