Rockin' The Suburbs
''Rockin' the Suburbs'' is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Ben Folds released on September 11, 2001, after Folds disbanded his group Ben Folds Five. ''Rockin' the Suburbs'' was recorded in Adelaide, Australia, where Folds was living at the time. He performed most of the instruments and vocals. Two singles from the album were released, " Rockin' the Suburbs", and " Still Fighting It". "Rockin' the Suburbs" is Folds' only single to make ''Billboards Modern Rock Tracks chart, peaking there at number 28 in September 2001. The album peaked at number 42 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart, and at number 11 on the Top Internet Albums chart. Ben Folds
Benjamin Scott Folds (born September 12, 1966) is an American singer-songwriter from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. After playing in several small independent bands throughout the late 80s and into the early 90s, Folds came to prominence as the frontman and pianist of the alternative rock trio Ben Folds Five from 1993 to 2000, and again during their reunion from 2011 to 2013. He has recorded a number of solo albums, most recently '' Sleigher'' (2024). He has also collaborated with musicians such as Regina Spektor, "Weird Al" Yankovic and yMusic, and undertaken experimental songwriting projects with actor William Shatner and authors such as Nick Hornby and Neil Gaiman. Street Corner Symphony is an a cappella group from Nashville, Tennessee and a contestant on the second season of NBC's reality show ''The Sing-Off''. During ''The Sing-Off'' season finale, Street Corner Symphony claimed the second place title, losing the championship to Huntsville, Alabama group Committed. It was formed in 2010 for the sole purpose of entering ''The Sing-Off''. Robert Sledge
Robert Ewell Sledge (born March 9, 1968) is an American musician. He played bass guitar in the alternative rock trio Ben Folds Five. Biography Robert Sledge began playing bass guitar at the age of eleven. His brother was playing guitar at his house so he also learned how to play the guitar at the same time. Before playing with Ben Folds Five he was bassist for bands Toxic Popsickle and Lexx Luthor (with Godsmack's Sully Erna). Ben Folds Five Sledge was a founding member of the piano-rock trio Ben Folds Five. He was the bass player for the group as well a backing vocalist. During the eponymous tour in support of their album The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner, Sledge began to use several synthesizers on stage, as well as his typical electric and acoustic basses. Darren Michael Jessee (born April 8, 1971) is an American drummer and singer-songwriter who was the drummer in the alternative rock trio Ben Folds Five. He has also worked as an instrumentalist for Sharon Van Etten and Hiss Golden Messenger and released three solo albums and four albums as singer and songwriter for indie band Hotel Lights.
