Rock'n'Roll Veterans
''Rock'n'Roll Veterans'' is the second album by the Bulgarian rock musician Georgi Minchev who is also the producer of the work. It was released in 1989 by the state-owned record company Balkanton. The songs of the album are result from the Minchev's collaboration with the well known Bulgarian musicians Kiril Marichkov, Petar Gyuzelev and Valdi Totev from Shturtsite and Rumen Boyadzhiev from FSB as well as Minchev's friend A. Dechev. That's why, in the album notes, Minchev wrote that he would like ''Rock'n'Roll Veterans'' to be perceived not just as a solo album but as album written by six friends. The album was originally released on Cassette and Vinyl LP. In 1997, it was re-released on CD format together with the Minchev's first LP '' BG Rock'' (1987). Georgi Markov (musician)
Georgi Ivanov Markov ( bg, Георги Иванов Марков ; 1 March 1929 – 11 September 1978) was a Bulgarian dissident writer. He originally worked as a novelist, screenwriter and playwright in his native country, the People's Republic of Bulgaria, until his defection in 1978. After relocating to London, he worked as a broadcaster and journalist for the BBC World Service, the US-funded Radio Free Europe and West Germany's Deutsche Welle. Markov used such forums to conduct a campaign of sarcastic criticism against the incumbent Bulgarian regime, which, according to his wife at the time he died, eventually became "vitriolic" and included "really smearing mud on the people in the inner circles." Markov was assassinated on a London street via a micro-engineered pellet that might have contained ricin. Vinyl LP
The LP (from "long playing" or "long play") is an analog sound storage medium, a phonograph record format characterized by: a speed of rpm; a 12- or 10-inch (30- or 25-cm) diameter; use of the "microgroove" groove specification; and a vinyl (a copolymer of vinyl chloride acetate) composition disk. The Compact Cassette or Musicassette (MC), also commonly called the tape cassette, cassette tape, audio cassette, or simply tape or cassette, is an analog magnetic tape recording format for audio recording and playback. Shturtzite
Shturcite ( bg, Щурците ; English "The Crickets"), sometimes romanized as Shturtsite, was a Bulgarian rock group. They were one of the most successful bands in Bulgaria during the 1970s and 1980s and still have many fans. The band broke up once in 1990, reformed in 1997, and disbanded again in 2013. The group has been characterized as "Bulgaria's answer to The Beatles". History The group was created in 1967 in Sofia by Kiril Marichkov, Petar Tsankov (both from Bandaratsite group), Petar Gyuzelev, and Veselin Kisyov (both from Slanchevi Bratya group). Their first performance was at a students party in VITIZ (The Bulgarian School for Performing Arts), and in 1967 they made their first records. Georgi Minchev (musician)
Georgi Minchev ( bg, Георги Минчев; 9 April 1943 – 18 February 2001), also called Gosho Minchev or Zhoro Minchev, was a Bulgarian rock musician, singer, songwriter and TV presenter. He is best known as one of the pioneers of the rock music genre in Bulgaria as well as one of the advocates of the restoration of the democracy in the country. Many of his songs became classic rock hits most notably ''White Silence'', ''Blessed years'', ''The Bulgarian Rock'', ''Balance'', ''The Song of the singer'', ''Alone at the Bar'', ''A Story with Guitar'' and ''Almost Midnight''. During the 1990s, he was a co-founder of the supergroup Stari Mutsuni (Old faces) which featured also Petar Gyuzelev and Georgi Markov of Shturtsite and Ivaylo Kraychovski and Ivan Lechev of FSB. Kiril Marichkov
Kiril Marichkov ( bg, Кирил Маричков, 30 October 1944 in Sofia) is a Bulgarian rock musician. Biography Marichkov was born in Sofia and played piano, clarinet, bass-guitar and guitar since young age. In 1963 he founded one of the first Bulgarian rock bands, the "Bandaracite" (''Бъндараците'') and in 1967 one of the most successful bands in Bulgaria during the 70s and 80s (with still many fans) - "Shturtzite" ("The Crickets", ''Щурците''). Since its foundation, Kiril Marichkov has been the frontman (lead vocal, bass guitar and keyboards) of the band. He has also composed a large part of their songs, which approximate 160, in fourteen albums. Shturcite have performed over 2600 concerts in sixteen countries.
